To touch once again on the subject of vanishing African languages, it made my morning to read about an imaginative intervention on the part of top-level leadership in Nigeria, as described in the linked article below.

Due to the recent negligence of the local languages in Nigeria, the Federal Government, through the National Institute for Cultural Orientation (NICO), is planning a programme which will teach Nigerians the various indigenous languages.
