Uzoma:
Are official cars and residences normally registered in the names of their benefices in Nigeria?
Are any of the jets and other aircrafts in the Presidential fleet in Nigeria registered in President Jonathan's name?
So if a Minister of Education decides to spend 30 t0 40% of his or her ministry's budgetary allocation on armored vehicles
and other perks of office instead of on educating the students, we should just look the other way as long as the armored vehicles are not registered in his or her name?
What would this say about individual ministerial set of priorities, responsibilities and accountability?
No wonder jets are dropping from Nigerian skies almost every other month with numerous near misses that we do not even hear about.
Ms Stella Oduah's primary responsibility as Minister of Aviation is to protect Nigerian skies and the traveling public who patronize Nigerian and foreign airlines that operate in the Nigerian air corridor. It is not are duty to protect Nigerian roads and those who travel on them including herself and her foreign visitors, for whom we are now been told six luxury armored vehicles were purchased.
Would you and others defending Ms Stella Oduah have been this lenient and forgivi if Prof. Bolaji Aluko has proceeded to spend 50% of the annual budgetary allocations to FU of Otueke on luxury vehicles and first class air tickets for himself and his senior staff because he fears for his safety on Nigerian roads and air corridor?
NB: Bolaji--please accept my apologies for singling you out as an examole in this illustration. My main reason is that you are a known quantity on Nigerian cyberspace. Secondly I am sure you are fully aware that our mutual friendship aside, that I would be breathing down your neck if such inappropriate spending is ever alleged to have taken place under your watch at as VC at FU of Otueke.
My beef in this Oduahgate matter is not so much that I believe that she is guilty of any or all of the offences that she is alleged to have committed but rather it is to the primitive knee jerk defence being by those from her neck of the woods in Nigeria..
We have had enough of this kind of primitive silly ethnicly biased defence of government officials who are accused of any kind of transgression while in office or after they have left office.
We should allow due process to prevail!!
Let us allow Ms Oduah to defend herself at the panels of inquiry before exonerating or finding her guilty of the allegations of official misconduct that have been levelled against her person.
Bye,
Ola
