RE: USA Africa Dialogue Series - Read! Premium Times interviews Obasanjo!

Obasanjo or any other presidents asking for evidence of wrong doing before they hold their appointees accountable is always a red herring. What are audits and auditors for? What are inspections and investigations for.
Obasanjo always knew which roads Anenih's federal ministry of works was allocated millions of naira of public money to rehabilitate. He must have driven, or been driven on some of the roads. Many people around him must have too. Some of them may have had conversations with him on the poor state of the roads and the many deaths and property loss the roads were responsible for. He did not need anyone to provide evidence to him that the funds were stolen. He knew which departments and people in his government to ask for evidence if he needed any. He chose not to. The question must be why he did not call for evidence before prosecuting those he felt threatened by. One does not need to have a fertile imagination to figure out why he has taken to sanctimonious pretension.

"PT: And most of the money you gave him to build roads, people say he didn't build the roads. And you didn't get him to render account.

Obasanjo: No, no. If he didn't build roads and there is evidence that he didn't build roads, I will deal with him. You see, you people you just start your imagination to run riot. You make up your mind. I don't say Tony Anenih is the best human being on earth. I will also not say he's the worst. He's probably in between, like most of us. But I will not chastise anybody or condemn anybody unless I have evidence. People make allegation. Anybody can call you and say 'hey, Mojeed, you are a rogue'. But for what reason should I join him to call you a rogue if he doesn't show me evidence."

Musikilu Mojeed of Premium Times executes the most honest, most courageous interview of a Nigerian official ever. This is what I am talking about! He actually did his homework and read Obssanjo's books and almost proved that perhaps OBJ has a ghost writer (those yeye intellectuals again, sleeping with baboons at night and calling themselves vegetarians in the morning!).

You must read this, Obasanjo is a hilarious sputtering old man, bullying and berating Mojeed, threatening to walk out of the interview, denying that he is corrupt (Hahahahahaha!). But Mojeed stood his ground and gave it to him! I love you, Mojeed! Keep this up and I will almost forgive you for your role in Toboregate!

Oya, read! Awon ole buruku! LOL!
