By Chidi Anthony Opara
Weave another web
Spider
To stop the hunger
And the anger
Of the hungry
And the angry.
Sing another song
Songbird
To soothe the sorrowing
Of the sorrowful.
Spin another story
Story spinner
To quench the thirst
For a geniune positive change.
The markets are naked,
The pockets are barren,
The streets are deserted,
Only the sirens
And the scoundrels
Strut,
Chanting
The cants of anti-corruption.
The red carpet
On which saints
Would have trodden,
Sinners trod.
Mealy mouthed minstrels
Moutb meaningless music.
