Ernesto Che Guevara(Poem)
By Chidi Anthony Opara
We sat on the mat
In the diviner's shrine.
We sat and waited
In the shrine
Decked
With paraphernalia of divination.
Our faces
Spoke our minds,
The oracle
Will speak to us today,
Our land needs a liberator.
The red curtain parted,
From the holy of holies
The diviner emerged.
Dance,
Incantation,
Libation,
Cowries.
The oracle spoke to the cowries,
The cowries spoke to the diviner,
The diviner spoke to us.
A soul roams this land,
A soul
Angry but benevolent
With intent to liberate.
His name is Ernesto Che Guevara.
He will reincarnate in this land
And this land
Will be purged of impurities.
With relief
And smiles
We departed
The diviner's shrine.
