Re: USA Africa Dialogue Series - 2020

Does the word " pray" always mean entreating a deity as the comment of Dr. Abdullah implies? It also mean  hope, ask, or request. Falola's usage is ambiguous. I pray we do not always see the word "pray"in the religious, cultic sense every time it is used. We do not need to bend our knees to use the word in a platform like this. Thanks.

If you're serious about this prayer business why don't you do a church somewhere online. It's really getting ridiculous: so the West and the East got to where they currently are because of prayer?

Thanks, Gloria.

And we need to pray that the current generation should not see careers as CV building, but as nation and people building.

Subject: USA Africa Dialogue Series - 2020

Happy New Year to all colleagues, friends and associates, in this great discussion forum.

May we benefit from intergenerational  skills, expertise and wisdom, across space and time and political, regional and age boundaries. Ageism is not a credible option, nor is sexism, colorism, self hate or racism.

PanAfricanism should be a guiding philosophy in this new decade, as we fight against xenophobia and micro nationalism.

Let us be free from religious fundamentalists, who are at their most fanatical & destructive level in Mali, Nigeria, Burkina Faso and Somalia.

May we distribute resources equitably and avoid greed and avaricious behavior as we begin this new decade.

African youths need jobs and self employment capital, skills and guidance
and we should make this a priority in development planning. Economic growth must keep up with and even outstrip population growth-  an asset  and positive variable, in such a context.

May 2020 be the start of a decade of activism, prosperity and wisdom.
