These are very important points to remember.
Getting rid of western troops from the Middle East is easier said than done. This might be one of the ultimate limited objective of Soleimoni regarding American troops.
British parliamentary opposition and Congressional opposition have criticized Trump-s actions without prior congressional authorization but it is the President' job to weigh the risk assessment against letting off the quarry to strike in a deadlier fashion another day. He would rely on his military commanders options. We must remember Obama acted in a similar manner against Bin Laden only to announce to the world after mission was accomplished on his shoot to kill order. Soleimoni is ten times deadlier than Bin Laden who was stateless and only a religious leader compared to Soleimoni a well trained and experienced military leader in orthodox and non orthodox warfare and hence a more formidable adversary.
Iran has said its retaliation would not target American citizens but military targets.

Subject: USA Africa Dialogue Series - Ten repercussions from Trumpism
The recent assassination of the Iranian General may have the following repercussions:
1. The consolidation of the power of the Iranian states, given national solidarity and outrage against the assassination.
2. The mobilization of Shiite groups sympathetic to Iran, in the Middle East.
3. Moves to oust and get rid of US troops in Iraq and ultimately Afghanistan and elsewhere - now that the Iraqi parliament is considering doing just that.
4. The globalization and legitimization of preemptive strikes against government officials.
5. Indefinite rise of oil prices and increased volatility in the oil sector.
6. Greater risks to US allies and passport holders around the world.
7. Diversion from impeachment negotiations - in the interest of Trump.
8. Increased fear by global leaders of the volatile, unpredictable and somewhat naive, narcissistic president.
9. The reemergence of Dash (Isis)
groups in some areas, given the death of their nemesis who successfully fought against them in South Iraq.
10. Repercussions in Africa have
begun - with yesterday's Al-Shabab attack on US interests in Kenya.
However Boko Haram, AQIM and the rest, tend to lean towards the Sunni sect, and not the Shiite pro- Iranian faction.
