Subject: USA Africa Dialogue Series - What do Donald Trump and Alassane Ouattara have in common?
1. They both went to the Wharton School of Business. One was a "C" student.
2. Both would sacrifice lives to stay in power. One of the duo has politicized Covid lethality to strengthen his base. The other has thrown about four of his Senators in Covid - infected prisons, to silence the opposition.
3. They both have militias and secret armed groups or Tonton Macoute.
4. Both have presidential elections in October/ November, 2020 - officially.
5. They both want to stay in power beyond the term limit, and have devised conniving strategies to do so.
a. The Ouattara model: pick an ailing successor/candidate and step into the void on his passing. Get your party to nominate you for a third term run. Push into exile the most popular challenger and work out a plan to
skillfully eliminate the remaining rival who is armed to the teeth and in charge of defense.
( Prediction: He would hand over rival to the U.S DEA)
b. The Trump model: start a campaign for the delegitimization of mail -in voting, to prepare for postponement of the November election; and cause chaos and civil unrest by deploying a militia, as a back- up plan.
6. One is a fusion of Bokassa, Mussolini and Zuma, and the other a mix of Mobutu and Sassou Nguesso.
7. The two politicians, four years apart in age, activated important parts of their electoral playbook in the last week of July, 2020.
