Have we not heard this before, 

Not so long ago, 

From a former US President? 

Barring a lethal pushed-button in the interim, 

And regardless of the level of political hysteria, 

We shall merely have the same, 

Or another oligarch at the helm of the US 

After the November elections. 

One would adopt more diplomatic rhetoric, to accompany his rule; 

The other would not. 

Sadly, Democracy is now just another word. 

Indeed a mantra today proclaimed by nearly all world rulers, 

Including Dictators. 

Voting folk do have a choice; 

They can choose, 

Which oligarch they prefer. 

We here in Brit 

Chose Boris. 

And if it's any consolation, 

The serious thrust of the modern oligarch 

Has only started. 

The grip will greatly tighten, deepen and extend

As the years of this century 

Move forward. 

Any doubts?
