FOLKS, ON THIS MATTER, I AM REMINDED OF THE PROVERB "A NOD IS AS GOOD AS A WINK TO A BLIND HORSE."

Victor, my brother. You make me laf well well o!

Just one vignette for you. Prof. Ibrahim Gambari, the Chief of Staff to PMB and I were dinner guests at the NDA Commandant's official residence in June 2015. The major topic of spirited discussion was the audacity of the Commandant in withdrawing 41 NDA cadets the same day after they had been found guilty (through a very rigorous and multi-layered adjudication process) for a wide range of infractions, including drug trafficking, truancy (for about three weeks AWOL in one notorious case), rape, theft and extortion of underclassmen and women. Almost a third of first year cadets had their school-issued camouflage uniforms "commandeered" from them by upperclassmen, but none of them dared report their seniors to the authorities or else they'd be forced to take the "night flight" out of the academy, if not physically maimed or dead. The academy is where some of these evil military officers (Yes, you must distinguish them from the many very fine cadets and officers!) learn these behaviors. Did you not read about the GOC, 7 DIV, a Major General, who was shot at by his troops in Maiduguri in 2015 for allegedly stealing the duty tour allowance (DTA) of the troops deployed to fight BH?

Prof. Gambari's Savannah Center on Governance has discussed "military welfare" issues or lack thereof several times, particularly during the GEJ presidency! My point: PMB and all his kitchen cabinet clan know all about the primordial identities of the cat you're trying to bell.

By the way, rumor has it that one of the reasons that "audacious" NDA Commandant wasn't chosen as PMB's army chief the following month, July 2015 was because of this unprecedented withdrawal of 41 cadets, most of whom are children of the "owners" of Nigeria. He was still one of the two candidates up to 16:00H the day Maj-Gen. TY Buratai was announced as the new COAS at 19:00H! Just early this month, May 2022, one of the rusticated cadets was arrested for armed robbery and ransom-kidnapping (bandit?) in Bauchi. Some wisecracks blamed the now ex-Commandant, arguing that the bastard wouldn't have taken to a life of crime had he not been kicked out of the academy in 2015.

Enjoy your day, bruh!

It's disturbing to read this sort of information (or, should I say, this sort of claim) about the state of the welfare of Nigeria's military personnel. If the claims made by this publication are genuine, it is little wonder that the country is saddled with a general environment of insecurity. Given that we have already seen a situation where someone mis-approriated a pension fund for Nigeria's police force (indeed, this new breed of bureaucratic thieves have no limits, no bounds!), I am inclined to believe that this new claim that funds meant for the welfare of Nigeria's military personnel have not been expended as intended. Who will bail the cat? Another important question is this: will this latest publication ever be read by President Buhari himself, the Commander-in-Chief? Is there anyone on this forum who is sufficiently well connected with the powers-that-be in Nigeria to see to it that this written and published concern about the welfare of Nigeria's military personnel is actually read by President Buhari himself? Is anyone listening?
