When a country goes cap in hand begging for money and borrowing from foreign countries, what do we expect from the lenders? In a transactional political situation, the financier nation wants to capitalize on its investment. The return of investment for the lender becomes juicier, if it has an additional advantage. In short, the “drug matter” in the US is a case for demanding “extra-compensation” from the president at the expense of Nigeria. For example, “the quid pro quo for not releasing information on the “drug issue” could be a special mineral contract. “
