Professor Gabriel Olatunde Babawale is a Professor of Political Economy and was until recently the Provost of the Anti-Corruption Academy of Nigeria, the training and research arm of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission( ICPC).He previously served as a member of the board of the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC). He also served as the Director- General of the Centre for Black and African Arts and Civilization (CBAAC), a parastatal of the Federal Ministry of Tourism, Culture and National Orientation. He served the University of Lagos creditably in positions such as Dean of Students’ Affairs, Chairman of the Ford Foundation Grant Committee, General Secretary of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), among others. Professor Tunde Babawale has contributed over one hundred and thirty-one (131) papers to learned local and international journals, international conference proceedings, and technical papers. He is the author and editor of about Twenty-one (21) books and Eight (8) monographs relating to urban violence, governance and democratization in Africa.His publications include : Urban Violence, Ethnic Militias and the Challenge of Democratic Consolidation in Nigeria, Nigeria in the Crises of Governance and Development( 2 vols) and The Chieftaincy Institution in Nigeria. He is a member of several academic associations and societies, including the Nigerian Political Science Association (NPSA), the Historical Society of Nigeria, and the Third World Forum among many others.
