Another way to approach  this issue would be to solicit submissions for solving the current

electricity  deficit  in South Africa-   to prevent  white

nationalists from exploiting the matter on their political platforms.

Since you see yourself as inferior and only whites can save you. Name just one country with equal opportunities and fair distribution of wealth I'd wait. South Africa, Zimbabwe, Namibia etc. These countries had their independence in the 90s but ever wonder upon the advancements, the white citizens are the major benefactor of the wealth and developments whilst 80% of the black populace are poor? Is this what you want for Nigeria? I think this is the best time for you to research about systematic racism. 
      Also if you're looking for a country where it's leaders are creating a safe haven for it's citizens, Rwanda is a good case study and they're not whites😜. They proved that advancement isn't synonymous with white people, proper planning does and that's what they're doing. 
      You and I are no different & that white savior mentality would continue to make us intellectually lazy inferior & underdeveloped.

    Some years back (during ANC era), I read some reports on SA electricity status. Electricity requirements were not factored into new housing units developments. It was just growth, growt    h in housing units without commensurate growth/investment in electricity needs. Hence, arriving at this junction today is sure.

    We tend not to think about the future (immediate and far). Chance rules most of what we do. This tends to permeate our actions!

    We now need to find out why, why chance rules! If we succeed in this quest, I think we might find answers to most of our issues (problems).

    Bottom line is that the power oligarchs want it unbundled and privatized. Meaning to chop the firm into smaller parts and sell off to friends and cronies. 

    The majority of the people are resisting, especially those employed by the outfit overseen by their very strong trade unions. 

    If you ask me, I'll say there is a lot of sabotage going on, to force the people to accept that Eskom is no longer viable in public ownership. 

    The attendant consequences would be severe, if the Nigerian example of NEPA's 'chop and sell' model is considered. 

    By and by, it's the people that will suffer.

      As part of my academic work here in Sandton City, Johannesburg, I've had course to meet with       and interact with senior policy makers and operations managers at Eskom, the top echelon of ANC power brokers and directors from the power regulatory agencies at several fora in the last 6 months. 

      There's sabotage in the system, undoubtedly. 

      But then there is government policy failure at a massive scale. For instance Soweto municipality alone owes Eskom as much as R17 billion (just about half of almost R40 billion owed the firm in total) , likewise other municipalities who are, in the first place, tasked with selling electricity and recouping funds. The debt is mountain fast. 

      The failure is thus, and it cuts across other sectors too:

      ANC feels threatened by the opposition DA and the new EFF popularity, considering how many seats it lost in the last elections. Combined, both parties are closing up the gap, picking up an unprecedented number of parliament seats and mercilessly demystifying the once hallowed anti-apartheid liberation movement/party.

      Soweto (harboring about 1.5 million people), like other such big townships are where the votes are. ANC would never go after the funds owed. They need the votes to stay in power so the pamper these folks (applies to almost every other goverment policy and actions - or inactions too).

      To stay in power and ensure Eskom survives as a going concern, the short cut is to unbundle and sell it off. 

      But that's not the proper solution. 

      As part of the academia and first hand witness of how a similar process played out in Nigeria, I've been requested to advise at several technical fora, with empirical hindsight on the way forward. 

      In confidence, I can tell you it's a very messy position at the moment. 

      The problems are multifaceted and the options to solve them, very limited. 

      The biggest problem, however, is the geriatric-led ANC bereft of ideas on moving the country forward, while trying to remain popular and stay in power by any means necessary at the same time.

      With as much as 45% of the whole of Africa's total electricity generation coming from Eskom alone, servicing much of southern Africa, it's death would usher in a very dark day on the continent. 

      P. S. Two separate well planned and executed 4hrs 30mins long power outages (called load shedding here) in the last 24 hours in my apartment has confirmed that things are getting worse. It has not been this bad. 

      It's like Deja Vu, my Johannesburg is turning into my Lagos, slowly!

Socialism is the bane of this country because the black leaders have brainwashed the black majority to believe that you can get everything including healthcare, electricity, tertiary education, water, job etc free of charge from the government. Imagine SOWETO which is just one township in Johannesburg owes ESKOM, the national electricity generation and distribution company a whopping 17billion Rands which is more than half of the national debt. These people want everything for free and the national economy is suffering for it.

    One Professor from Wits stated on SABC 1 of those days that Both Mandela and Mbeki totally ignored the warnin    g by experts to build new power plants. They relaxed and stated that they will cross that bridge when they get to the bridge.

    It will be hard for them to cope in that country without steady power supply

    The infrastructure in that country was sophisticatedly built in anticipation of a steady power supply

    The high rise condominiums need steady electricity 

    That place will go to hell if power continues to blink.

    All British Overseas Territories in central America (Carribean) have constant electricity, good roads, good schools and health care as a result of their dependence on the British go    vernment. 

    The people living in British Overseas Territory countries are regarded as British citizens, they can enter the UK, work and live in the UK but they don't actually go to the UK because their countries are better and stable.

    The Africans who fought for self-ruled couldn't maintain the infrastructure the British left for them and they are forging documents, dying in the deserts and perishing inside Mediterranean sea in their attempt to gettake Europe despite our independence.

    We should just shelf our pride and call back those who know about running an effective government to take over.

      The Western Cape was the best performing province in the 2017/18 financial year, Auditor General Kimi Makwetu has sa      id.

      The province obtained the highest number of unqualified audit opinions across its departments and public entities with 79%.

      Second was Gauteng with 60%, with KwaZulu-Natal third with 33%.

      The other provinces records were: Eastern Cape – 32%; Free State – 11%; Limpopo 0%, but 66% unqualified with findings; Mpumalanga – 29%; Northern Cape – 30%, North West – 9%.

      The provinces also had a combined R22.74bn in irregular expenditure, of the total R46bn across all government departments and entities for the year under review.

      The irregular expenditure for each province was:

      North West – R2.9bn;
      Northern Cape – R1.7bn;
      Mpumalanga – R4bn;
      Limpopo R1bn;
      KwaZulu-Natal – R3.5bn;
      Gauteng – R6.5bn;
      Free State – R1.9bn;
      Eastern Cape – R1.24bn;
      Western Cape – R28m.
      Makwetu said the AG's office also looked at each province's performance over the last three years for the first time, and said there was an overall improvement in the numbers.

      The biggest improvers over the last three years were the Eastern Cape (36%), KZN (26%) and Gauteng (14%).

      It was not good news for all provinces however.

      The Free State and Mpumalanga regressed over the last three years.

      The North West's audit results were described as "erratic", having improved in 2014/15 but regressed in 2015/16.

      Limpopo and the Northern Cape meanwhile had marginal improvements over the three-year period

      'Leadership the difference'

      Auditor General Kimi Makwetu presented the results of the PFMA 2017/18 report at a press briefing in Parliament on Wednesday.

      Makwetu said the differences between the Western Cape and compared to other provinces came down to leadership.

      "If you look at two provinces in particular, in those provinces, there is what is called a forum of all the MECs and accounting officers, mayors and municipal managers who normally gather to deal with these matters.

      "I think that proactive leadership engagement has contributed to the creation and the sustainability of the clean audits."

      It was not about finding ways to get around the audit, but finding ways to create a transparent environment, he said.

      The Auditor General's office was invited to attend those meetings.

      He also said those meetings were followed up with continual progress updates.

      "It's a mixed bag. There's nothing really in terms of the mechanics in managing finances that is stronger. What is the differentiator is the specific role being played by the leadership? They are being anticipatory.

      "There are also other interventions of following up to assess the progress."

      Makhwethu said all provinces largely had the same kind of resources available to them.

    In the last budgetary year, the Western Cape's 23 government ministries and sub-ministries got 18 clean reviews and 5 unqualified audits with findings

    This is a vastly improved exhibition than some other provinces 

    The Auditor General singled out the endeavors of the province, expressing that the Western Cape that "political and managerial initiative set the tone for clean review results at audit outcomes at all provincial cabinet meetings"

    78 % of divisions in the Western Cape created clean reviews. Gauteng comes in at an extremely far off second spot with 54%. 

    These outcomes, shockingly, show how whatever remains of the regions in South Africa keep on being botched. 

    Eastern Cape, North West and Limpopo are in an especially awful state, with just 15 %, 3 % and 4 % of divisions and substances accepting clean reviews individually.

    Now, the evidence suggests that in all the provinces ran by black people, things are terribly done 

    But this does not suggest that black is inferior

    It suggests that blacks must put their acts together.

    It means that we can do better than these white guys but we simply do not want to

    The province obtained the highest number of unqualified audit opinions across its departments and public entities with 79%.

    Second was Gauteng with 60%, with KwaZulu-Natal third with 33%.

    The other provinces records were: Eastern Cape – 32%; Free State – 11%; Limpopo 0%, but 66% unqualified with findings; Mpumalanga – 29%; Northern Cape – 30%, North West – 9%.

    The provinces also had a combined R22.74bn in irregular expenditure, of the total R46bn across all government departments and entities for the year under review.

    The irregular expenditure for each province was:

    North West – R2.9bn;
    Northern Cape – R1.7bn;
    Mpumalanga – R4bn;
    Limpopo R1bn;
    KwaZulu-Natal – R3.5bn;
    Gauteng – R6.5bn;
    Free State – R1.9bn;
    Eastern Cape – R1.24bn;
    Western Cape – R28m.
    Makwetu said the AG's office also looked at each province's performance over the last three years for the first time, and said there was an overall improvement in the numbers.

    The biggest improvers over the last three years were the Eastern Cape (36%), KZN (26%) and Gauteng (14%).

    It was not good news for all provinces however.

    The Free State and Mpumalanga regressed over the last three years.

    The North West's audit results were described as "erratic", having improved in 2014/15 but regressed in 2015/16.

    Limpopo and the Northern Cape meanwhile had marginal improvements over the three-year period

    'Leadership the difference'

    Auditor General Kimi Makwetu presented the results of the PFMA 2017/18 report at a press briefing in Parliament on Wednesday.

    Makwetu said the differences between the Western Cape and compared to other provinces came down to leadership.

    "If you look at two provinces in particular, in those provinces, there is what is called a forum of all the MECs and accounting officers, mayors and municipal managers who normally gather to deal with these matters.

    "I think that proactive leadership engagement has contributed to the creation and the sustainability of the clean audits."

    It was not about finding ways to get around the audit, but finding ways to create a transparent environment, he said.

    The Auditor General's office was invited to attend those meetings.

    He also said those meetings were followed up with continual progress updates.

    "It's a mixed bag. There's nothing really in terms of the mechanics in managing finances that is stronger. What is the differentiator is the specific role being played by the leadership? They are being anticipatory.

    "There are also other interventions of following up to assess the progress."

    Makhwethu said all provinces largely had the same kind of resources available to them.

A nation of 2 parallels, the Western Cape you talk of has townships with some of the world's highest murder rate. You get a developed world precinct lying next to a typical third world squalor.       Okey Ndumnego Nwanne, the difference isn't much, just the bar is set so low in Africa. WC may have a cleaner audit and fewer potholes, but it ends there. It's still nowhere near a first world city. I bet you Kigali is even more well managed than Capetown.
