The question is: is there an order to Habila's choices? I would choose The Famished Road ahead of TFA. The Man Died would be in my top 5 but A Man of the People would come before it. Adichie's Purple Hibiscus would round up my top five. But one of my all time favorites, moving beyond Nigeria, is The Beautiful Ones are Not Yet Born. It's a classic postcolonial African--yes, African--novel.

Helon Habila, speaking to the BBC chose Things Fall Apart by Chinua Achebe, The Man Died by Wole Soyinka, and The Famished Road by Ben Okri. Very Interesting choices there.
