USA Africa Dialogue Series - RE: [Voice-Of-Uganda] RE: Fwd: The Updates on Zik Statues and Mausoleum with current pictures

Dear All:

We are happy that some work has been done on Zik’s Statue; but the environment and the Mausoleum need restoring and upgrading. So that is GREAT! At least we now know where our focus is!

That said, I would like to address the following issues:

1. The magnetic response to Zik’s issue: This issue has reaffirmed to all and sundry that whatever anybody thinks about this initiative, whichever side you are, the reality is that the powerful living mystic of Zik’s name continue to act as a magnet for bringing people together for a common cause. A supposedly joking remark about the state of Zik’s memorial transformed into a restoration CRUSADE! This is the GREAT ZIK WE KNOW and we have reaffirm that MAGIC OF ZIK! As we know, it is not every name that does this MAGIC; so let the MUSIC PLAY and we should all dance to the Legendary Name of Zik that still does wonders even from the Grave as it did during the Creation of NIGERIA! We can still contribute to the lasting remembrance of Zik and his role in the birth of Obodo Nigeria!

2. This statement This begging-bowl-dragging in Zik's name seems to have been totally unnecessary and a bit of a mockery, since it presupposes that people who left Nigeria have more regard for the first president of Nigeria than Nigerians and specifically, those of Zik's clan. That's ridiculous!” by Adaoma, and Prince KC Asagwara’s take on it were disappointing; and this is why. It is a FACT that Nigerian Diasporans complain about a lot of disappointing state of many things in Nigeria: the rampart corruption; the impassable roads; the electricity and water problems; the educational depreciations; the unemployment; et cetera. Does this mean thatpeople who left Nigeria [want to suggest that they] have more regard for [these issues of Nigeria] than Nigerians in Nigeria and specifically, those [who are in Govt].”? The ANSWER IS OBVIOUSLY NO! So the notion that when Nigerian Diasporans complain about an issue, it means they are saying they know more or care more about Nigerian problems/issues than Nigerians is flawed on this issue. If Diasporans cease to be stakeholders in Project Nigeria, and if there was no history of neglect and non-performance on this project, or any other Nigerian project, then one would discern some merits on the argument from Adaoma or the tacit support from Prince KC. Nigerian Diasporans will continue to be significant stakeholders in project Nigeria in all time to come and this can be underscored by the enfranchisement (voting) bill pending in the National Assembly and other efforts by this 37th State of the Federation and second revenue source for the economy.

Finally, it is now a FACT from these discussions and investigations that: (a) the construction of respectable statues and mausoleum to the memory of the Great Zik of Africa has taken to LONG…14 YEARS; (b) work has been done on Zik’s Statue but the environment and the Mausoleum need restoring and upgrading; AND (c) A Diasporan effort to FINALIZE these projects through strong advocacy and/or fundraising should be continued. God Bless the Memory of Zik! Take care. Joe Igietseme

Dear Prof. Val Ojo,

Thank you for exposing this dumb ass Efulefu Igbo with a very tiny penis!  He cannot join others in doing a good thing for the great Zik of Africa but will join the Cameroonian strumpet to knock a good initiative that all Nigerians Igbo, Yoruba and Edo are co-operating to successfully execute.

Later he will talk from both sides of his dirty mouth that he is not a revanchist or an Igbo irrendentist.

He is now roundly exposed as a duplicitous, double-talking worthless and useless Igbo irrendentist.  A complete Efulefu!

KC Prince Asagwara:

You see why I insist that you are REALLY DUMB?

Rather than engage your fellow Nigerians - including many responsible people of Ndi-Igbo extraction who pledged for the renovation of Zik's Statue/Muaseleom - you are are now calling on a piece of American Ghetto TRASH, Caroline Watson (your fake Adaoma) to be your authority on what is right or wrong about the project.

This is clearly also an expression of the depth of your own inferiority complex!

You must yourself be a piece of TRASH since water seeks it own level.

KC Asagwara, you ought to be ashamed of yourself - if it is not a Cameroonian hustler and streetwalker that is your authority on how to be an Igbo, it is an American Ghetto Queen and Hood Rat!

That says everything for the quality of person that you are...I truly feel sorry for you!

Adaoma:

Yours above has been the trajectory of my position on this issue all along. What good is the mock interest from some folks that conceals effrontery? I said also all along that the Great Ziks’ statue are not headless from the time the mocking photo was taken and posted in 2006 to prove an unnecessary point to Osita Olisa. Now, it is the Great Zik’s Mausoleum.

Afis in his usual mischievous ethnic irredentist manner that I consider appropriate this time though, posed thus about four days ago:

Did the Yoruba community ask people to contribute money like welfare recipients to fix Awo's legacy?

I just don't get it with you Igbos, no shame at all.

Now you all are holding out "babiya allah" sauce-pan, begging for alms to fix your "grandpa" legacy?”

You go figure!

And with some already hoping to have their names engraved or scripted on Zik’s statue because of $50 dollars pledge, you can’t help but ask where is the altruistic spirit if ever that was the intent?

Ms Azuoma,

Thank you and God bless, for bringing this issue to the fore.

I grew up in the days of "Zik of Africa" when mere evoking the name "Zik" was all one needed to open doors as an African. How time flies, how culture changes, how society degenerates...today we are raising funds on the Internet to complete/maintain the mausoleum of the once great Zik of Africa ,despite all that he labored and sacrified for Nigeria and Africa during his entire lifetime. The beauty of Nd'Igbo is slain...how are the mighty fallen!

However, I believe that all the cultural and political decay that has happened and is still plaguing Nigeria and Ala Igbo is a passing phase. I am very optimistic that one day, in our lifetime, Nd'Igbo will Rise and Shine again.

Keep the struggle alive!

Sincerely,
Elder Fred J. Umunnakwe

It seems that you had the forethought to do the research, Azuoma.  Deeje.

Please also check to see if there is a local effort to restore the mausoleum.  There statues are restored, it follows that there may be plans in the workings to restore President Azikiwe's gravesite, as well.

Who needs Aluko, et al's charity? Apparently not those who value and respect First President Nnamdi Azikiwe's contributions to Nigeria and his legacy.

This begging-bowl-dragging in Zik's name seems to have been totally unnecessary and a bit of a mockery, since it presupposes that people who left Nigeria have more regard for the first president of Nigeria than Nigerians and specifically, those of Zik's clan. That's ridiculous!

Subject: NIDOA | The Updates on Zik Statues and Mausoleum with current pictures

Dear All,
As promised I called Onitsha and my contact got a photographer to take the pictures of the current state of Zik statues both at DMGS and Inosi Onira Retreat and the mausoleum.  Here are the pictures with dates and the  name of the photographer. He took the liberty to decorate the borders but aside the flowery borders you can see the pictures clearly.

As you can see these pictures were taken on August 17, 2010. The  statues have been restored and we have two statues both at DMGS and Inosi Onira Retreat which the photographer dubbed Roundabout. However, the  mausoleum is still uncompleted. So, for full disclosure purposes, the fund raising is for the mausoleum only--as the other issue is now moot.
We don't know the estimate for the completion yet and we have formed a committee which will look into the modality of tackling this project. I will be calling a meeting of the Comittee members for this Saturday. I will be sending out an email to all the people that pledged so that you can participate and/or join this committee if you so wish. I believe in doing everything worth doing properly. One of the things we discussed is forming a non profit organization that will carry out this project as well as keep the vision of Zik (democracy and pan Nigerianism) alive. So, I thank you for rising to the call of duty and I'd crave your indulgence to join us in keeping this vision alive. Let's this not be a mere knee jerk reaction, let this be the beginning of a great movement in Nigeria. Like I shared with some folks, if we succeed in galvanizing the government to complete this mausoleum then we have accomplished a lot indeed.

I shall be back with more comments. Thanks and God's bless.
