Date: Tuesday, 3 August, 2010, 12:34 Dear Friend Thank you for your continued support and well wishes. The ca mpaign now to raise the outstanding £70,000 to retain the oldest known portrait of a free African in the public domain has reached its final week 25/08/2010. The portrait has been in a private collection and has only recently come to light and is currently on sale but extra time has been given for the NPL to find the money to keep it in the public domain... This is a good cause so if you can please circulate to others who might be interested... every little helps and no amount is too little: http://www.npg.org.uk/about/press/diallo-appeal-press.php?searched=diallo&highlight=searchHighlight+searchHighlight1j Do continue to keep me in your meditations and let me know if you will support this very worthy project. It is an important portrait and continues to add to the body of knowledge on Africans in the Diaspora and to human heritage. With kind regards, -- Dr. wangui wa goro |
