USA Africa Dialogue Series - RE: Borrowing to Develop Edo State: I won't be intimidated - Oshiomhole

BTW, when did borrowing money to develop society in a transparent management fashion become a crime? Throughout the regime of President Ronald Reagan, the tenure of Snr Bush, part of Clinton' presidency, the enitre W's reign and recently in Obama's time, a cummulative duration of about 30 years, USA has been living and leading the world using borrowed money (from Japan, China etc).

The general concensus from Nigeria, even from the opposition, is that Gov Adams is doing well and Edo State is changing, with a new dawn in Benin City facelift and progress in road networks and water supplies in villages, towns and Cities; the schools are getting more healthy with new buildings, conveniences and water supplies as well. Whether these resounding progress reports are derived from borrowed or saved money, it is clear that the MONEY HAS BEEN WELL MANAGED or spent on what the people can see, feel or touch! Nigeria and several of the states have borrowed and are still borrowing with NADA TO SHOW for the indebtedness! In fact, if the report card on the progress is true, WE ALL OWE GOV ADAMS a pat on th back for doing a Great Job, unlike recent leaders in Edo and elsewhere in Nigeria!

It appears that mischievous politicians like to tell people what their opponents are doing badly or not doing than to tell us what they will do or have done. People should focus on viable and intellectually sound argument when addressing an educated public. It is my CANDID opinion that there is no issue here in an excellent performance in Edo State, whether the money was borrowed or saved. The governor should throw his 'books' wide open so that the people of state can see that he did not borrow any money.   BTW, how many states and countries can operate without borrowing money?   Is Godwin Obaseki and Oseni Elema just 'playing' around in Edo State?   I heard its very difficult to get around in Benin-City with the rains. Anyone on the ground in this fora? Please give us first hand report. From Edo South, Edo North and Central god fatherism is buried and it is dead. If they like, let them bring all the resources from the Nigeria Port Authority, NPA, and give to political leaders.
