USA Africa Dialogue Series - RE: RE: [] Pastor Bakare Blacklists AIT

Is the town on the west bank of the River Niger (opposite Idah on the east bank) Agenebode or Agenegbode?. I should know not to be curious because I have heard that curiosity killed the cat but I cannot help but be curious.

Yes, Adeniba Adepoyigi; JUI is from Agenebode, Nigeria, not Brisbane, Australian; and in accord with civilized international norm, I am a Nigerian, not an Agenebodean; only cave-men/women describe themselves according to the addresses of their coves rather than the Respectable nation they belong. The Modern Man/woman is described by Nationality, not by Ethnic Group; your ancestral background doesnt have to be part of the original ethnic composition of a nation before you can be a loyal/patriotic citizen of the naton; that is the modern man's nationhood psychology and behavior. There is a spiritual aspect of national consciousness that transcends ethnic background, location of birth etc; this is why relatives of different nationality can fight against each other when there is a war between the two nations; and could you imagine somebody describing a Chinese American simply as a Chinese without the American citizenship, or German American as a just a German as if he/she is German citizen?, or an Irish Australian simply as an Irish without the Australian citizenship? Irrespective of their ethnic backgound, essentially every modern human being (except some Nigerians of course) wants to pride as a citizen of a bona fide nation, not as a wondering ethnic entity that happens to find itself in a geographical space/location called nation. As you would realize, the location people claim as ethnic base at any timepoint is commonly a happenstance of historical incident. Ethnic domains are not the basis of National definition in modern times. Take care. JUI

"JUI from Agenebode" by Dr Joseph Igietseme.

What? I thought Agenebode has changed its name to 'Nigerville' in furtherance of the 'great' vision of an indivisible Nigeria championed by the one and only JUI? If you are from Agenebode, you must be an Agenebodean, I would have thought?

Pastor Bakare sure have good reasons to take the live braodcast of LRA message elsewhere. If that amounts to blackmail so be it. Dis Dokpesi not participate in the rallies of SNG at the beginning thus giving people the impression that he seeks a better Nigeria where the likes of the evil candiadate, IBB will not take us to the abyss again? Of course he did. And now that he is now in bed with IBB, does it not nake sense that the convener of SNG distance himself from this Agenebode born turcoat?

It is in the same way that Pastor Bakare and SNG will have to distance themselves from all other demagogues who are still pretending to be what they are not. They exist everywhere and they are known by those who have eyes and are able to see.

Watch out.

Pastor Bakare Blacklists AIT

The convener of the Save Nigeria Group and serving overseer of The Latter Rain Assembly, Pastor Tunde Bakare has blacklisted Africa Independent Television, AIT, from airing one of the church's very important events.

Pastor Tunde Bakare.
He made the announcement during his sermon at his church in Lagos, Nigeria, yesterday.

Pastor Bakare said the television station, which has been broadcasting his yearly State of the Nation address every October, will not air the live telecast this year.

Although he did not explain the reason for dumping AIT for another TV station, which he is yet to mention, many members of the church believe the action may not be unconnected with the appointment of the owner of the TV station, Raymond Dokpesi, as the Campaign Director for General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida (retd) for the 2011 presidential election.

Bakare, who had earlier vowed that Nigerians would never allow Babangida to return to power, said though other aspirants have signified their interest to contest, it was certain that IBB would never enjoy the support of members of his church and the vast majority of Nigerians. He had earlier asked Nigerians to vote for IBB with stones.

He also announced yesterday that the Save Nigeria Group, SNG, had started sensitising Nigerians on the need to register and ensure that they vote during the elections and make sure their votes count.

According to him, Nigerians cannot afford to be complacent anymore. And as such they must participate actively in the electoral process so that the current looters in government would be voted out in 2011.

He said SNG would embark on the sensitisation campaign in all the six geopolitical zones in the country, adding that his church would fast and pray on 24 and 25 September for Nigeria in order to have free, fair and credible elections next year.

Bakare said Nigeria would be saved, changed and the country would be great again after credible leaders had been voted into power
