Re: USA Africa Dialogue Series - Should NPR have fired Juan Williams?

My Oga!

Are you now a card-carrying member of the Tea Party? I know you're not, but your suggestion that the firing of Juan Williams is another example of the way "White liberals are driving dialogue underground" sure sounds like something Bill O'Reilly or Sean Hannity would say. Are you buying into this conservatives' tactic of accusing any media organisation outside of News Corporation of intolerance, while the very essence of Fox News is intolerance. Remember how Juan Williams berated Michelle Obama of habouring white hatred and referring to Mrs O as having "this Stokely Carmichael-in-a-designer-dress thing going"?

NPR strives for objectivity and expects its journalists to abide by that goal. What  Williams said about Muslims on plane is despicable. Just substitute Muslims for Blacks and perhaps you'll see how reprehensible his statement was. We cannot condemn racism and condone bigotry against Muslims.

On this issue, I'm disagreeing with you! My regards to the family.

Shola

I don't think so. This is another example of liberal orthodoxy gone haywire. I think NPR should be stripped of its tax-exempt status and all her top leaders promptly fired. I would be interested in people's thoughts on this issue. White liberals are driving dialogue underground and that is reprehensible.
