President Bill Powers of the University of Texas Presented the 2010 Career Research Award to Professor Toyin Falola, the first Black scholar to win this award in the history of the University.
The award is given to a faculty "who has maintained superior research programs over many years" A most coveted award, it carries a check in the amount of $10,000 along with other privileges. A citation acknowledges the contributions of his over a hundred books, his influence on the discipline, and his indefatigable energy and prolific output in the last three decades.
