Officials 'Sell World Cup Votes For Cash'

A newspaper investigation has suggested some of the people who will decide where the World Cup is held in 2018 may pledge their votes in return for cash.

The Sunday Times quotes two Fifa committee members as saying they want money for support.

Former Fifa insiders reportedly told the newspaper bribes were required and that England's bid would suffer because it was not making payments.

Undercover reporters pretended to be working for American businessmen keen to get the 2018 games for the US - there is no suggestion the US bid team has done anything wrong.

They offered a total of $800,000 to Nigeria's representative Amos Adamu ostensibly to build pitches in Africa.
