Dear friends,
I am happy to inform you that I am about to start an online newspaper at www.ghanatopics.com (what you will find there is only window dressing put there by the developer). Even a cursory investigation reveals that people are buying and reading fewer newspapers in Ghana, but I believe this is probably true of many African countries. On the other hand, more and more people are turning to the internet for their news and information. This is especially true of younger people. Ghanatopics is intended to either revive or inculcate interest in news, information, etc.
The first outing for the site will be on October 21st, which Africa Human Rights Day and I will be grateful for any contribution from this group. The name of the newspaper does not restrict its area of interest to only Ghana, neither does the start on Human Rights Day suggest that every article must be overtly related to human rights. Articles can be of any length but around 1000 to 3000 words would be ideal.
We will be unable to pay for articles at this point but we will ensure that credits are given maximum visibility.
I look forward to reading from you all.
Cheers
Kwasi
