USA Africa Dialogue Series - Re: 2011: “We Will Lord It Over The North”–Reports-A PIECE OF TRASH !!!!!!!

Nigerians can be VERY FUNNY PEOPLE! Without pretending to be naïve about the ethnic and sometimes apparent regional political gang-up in Nigeria, it is uncertain whether ""the North"" or ""the South"" is REALLY a distinct political entity or a defined group of individuals that a politician can brandish or flaunt as a block political decision maker in Nigeria. In the South, the Midwest (Bendel, Edo, Delta), Rivers (Rivers/Beyelsa), and Cross Rivers (Aqwa Ibom/CR) have CONSISTENTLY exhibited their political independence from the majority ethnic groups (i.e., Yoruba and Ndiigbo intensive states); in the North, we have observed consistently that Kano, Kaduna, plateau, and Borno States have done their thing since the days of Aminu Kano, Tarka, Goni, Balarabe Musa etc, with just Katsina, Sokoto and possibly 2 or 3 other Northern States voting as a block due to the influence of the Northern Emirate. In the Middle Belt, where the struggle for North really lies, Benue, Kogi, Kwara and Niger have presented a fluid political existence that oftentimes yield to the North, although the influence of the opposing political parties have been STRONG!

In my view, just like what you will have in the South, the outcome of the political movement in North is to a large extent dependent on the personalities involved in the local elections. Therefore, giving a free and fair election, parading the North or South as a voting bloc in Nigerian politics is definitely disingenuous! Tale care. Joe Igietseme

Thank you Ola for your input. RepublicReport is a disgrace to Journalism. This is gutter and extremely yellow. It has another content: someone, a big dis-jointed politician, is somewhere pulling the messy strings for the report content which is intended to generate a North-South conflagration!!! But we cannot be fooled.

Shame on you, REPUBLICREPORT for being so CHEAP !!!!!!

Dear All:

This report from the RepublicReport outfit is an excellent example of

Nigerian journalism at its lowest speculative ebb.

Disjointed and incomprehensible hearsays are muddled with poorly

formed speculative and uncorroborated opinions in a write up that

can only be described as an alphabet soup befitting of barely literate journalists.

But is it really fair to the professional journalists in Nigeria to refer to these

internet bloggers as journalists?

Imagine this story line as a piece of investigating reporting---

--an anonymous tipster from Aso Rock has snitched  on some inflammatory

and highly divisive derogatory statements made by an unnamed minister in Jonathan's

cabinet against peoples from the northern region of Nigeria--and the 'brains'

behind RepublicReports felt assured enough (without further

corroboration) that they had a solid story worthy of publication.

What exactly is the news value in this report?

How does a tenuous lame duck Presidency with less than 8 months left in its tenure

assure itself that is has enough grip on power to lord it over any region of Nigeria,

especially the North without whose support President Jonathan has almost

zero chance of emerging as the Presidential candidate of the PDP?

I know it is possible to have some extremely dumb people as cabinet ministers in

Nigeria--but what kind of cretin would make the kind of statement being attributed

to an unnamed minister especially in these testy times?

I could never have imagined that any other outfit could be worse than Jude

Jackson and his one laptop outfit called Pointblanknews

and here comes RepublicReport proving that is even on a lower

rung of the totem pole than the former.

Sahara Reporters and ElenduReports--where art thou.

Please come and save us from the copycats:)

Bye,

Ola

New York [RR] ABUJA–emerging reports reaching RepublicReport from anonymous insider in the presidency confirmed to our reporter that time has come to "Lord it over the North". A sitting Cabinet member [name withheld] when told that there are agitations by OPC, Movement for Actualization of Sovereign State of Biafra [MASSOB], MEND, AREWA, etc, pushing for autonomy, retorted, "No… Nigeria will not disintegrate"... "it is no longer necessary, we are in charge, the North has been in power for the longest time, 39-years or so of 50-years of Nigeria existence, we will Lord it over them, this time around"..
