A Nigerian leading Cumberland County College Written by Nigerians @ large Wednesday, October 13, 2010 LOCAL residents and visitors throughout the world will be attending Presidential Inauguration ceremonies on October 14, 15 and 16. These milestone events introduce the theme of Dr. Isekenegbe, a Nigerian's presidency - Engage, Inspire, Transform.

Dr. Thomas A. Isekenegbe was appointed as the sixth President of Cumberland County College by the College's Board of Trustees in March 2010. He served as CCC's Interim President from June 2009 until his appointment as President.
Dr. Isekenegbe was CCC's Vice President of Academic Affairs and Enrollment Services since 2002. He has also held senior administrative positions at Hudson County Community College, Coastal Carolina University and Sussex County Community College.
"I'm very proud of how we all work together to make our college a vibrant place where students really do get opportunities to change their lives forever," Dr. Isekenegbe said. "We must ensure that the college continues to offer reasonably priced, quality higher education that's close to home. This is so important because educated residents dramatically enhance economic development by providing essential professional services and community leadership."
Dr. Isekenegbe plans to maintain and build on the positive collaborations and partnership between the college and the community. The president is leading the college through its 10-year reaccreditation process with the Middle States Commission on Higher Education, and he's making sure the college carries out the goals of its 2006-2011 strategic plan.
Since 2002, Dr. Isekenegbe has provided leadership for increasing CCC's enrollment, developing new academic programmes, revising courses for seamless transfer to four-year universities, and developing learning communities that lead to student success. He created the Vice President Fellows Mentoring Programmes for minority students, and he played a leadership role in reaching partnerships for baccalaureate degree completion programmes with several universities.
Dr. Isekenegbe's commitment to issues that impact community colleges is evidenced by his active participation in a number of national conferences, including presenting at the various Innovations Conferences and attending the annual conference of the American Association of Community Colleges (AACC).
Dr. Isekenegbe is a member of the Transfer Committee of the New Jersey Presidents' Council (NJPC), the Academic Affairs Council of the New Jersey Council of County Colleges (NJCCC), and he's a member of the New Jersey Community College Presidents (NJCCP).
"I sincerely believe that the best days are yet to come for our college and the community", Dr. Isekenegbe said.
Dr. Isekenegbe resides with his wife, Patience, and children in Vineland. He is active in various community organizations. He holds a Ph.D. and Ed.S. in curriculum and instruction from Indiana State University.
