Thanks a lot, brother, for this report; it is very encouraging; and if I may reiterate the following from your note: President John Kennedy - "Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country".
"Best of the north and best of the south to come together to salvage Nigeria" (Buhari/Utomi) "..rightheousness(?) is not the preserve of any religion"
"..general integration where the young learns from those with experience"
"..issue of importance to me..credibility and integrity"
"..fix the head and all will be well"...
Regards & Cheers!
Thanks a million. With Love and Responsibility Positively

Idowu - You know, I was in as was your good self on the call/conference last night with Pastor Tunde Bakare and Yinka Odumakin and all of 42 or so of us. It lasted for 2 hours plus and we were entertained by PMM - the group that says Nigeria must be rescued at all cost from thieves.
Pastor Bakare took time to explain how he came about stating publicly his conviction that Buhari is the best man for the times in Nigeria. His statement was no SNG endorsement he reiterated over and over again.
He explained further that Buhari being the best from the north, what needs to be done now is seek the best from the south to join with Buhari to lift Nigeria. And lift Nigeria is what every thinking and reasoning Nigerian wants.
I had not a question last night, one because, I don't; and two because, Pastor Bakare, had a member of choir in me. So, what was there to ask about?
I congratulate Oduduwa sons and daughters for responding to that conference in good number and participating as they did. We can see why the west drives Nigerian politics.
There was not a single question inquirers had to which Pastor Bakare did not give deep, thoughtful response. There were about 3 south easterners present at that conference. That was unfortunate.
Politics is about presence. Wherever you are absent in politics, you lose. You lose because those present determine for you, they make policy for you - and of course neither the determination nor the policy those present make, is about the interest of those absent. I recall so admonishing Oduduwa sons during Abacha time, when the absented themselves from the constitutional conference Abacha had
So, to my eastern brothers and sisters, here is the lesson, and I have been saying it, the train is getting off the station, absence from the train, will only cause you to scratch your heads, when all you see is the tail end of the train that has zoomed out of station.
Back to the conference and Pastor Bakare, there is not a thing any could say about his decision about Buhari that holds water in my view, and a founded, convinced and educated view mine is.
It was not as if Pastor Bakare woke up one morning and said to himself, let me go endorse Buhari. No. The man did a painstaking job for which he deserves praise. He sat with the current president; he sat with Atiku, he sat with even some of the aspirants whose names we never heard, just to gauge their minds, their thoughts relative to what ails Nigeria and how they plan to go about dealing with those, once they became president.
In the end, Pastor Bakare determined that Buhari was the one for Nigeria. Nigerians all bear out Pastor Bakare's position that Buhari is the one for Nigeria, for the simple reason that, as I have relayed here once or twice before, you travel through the length and breadth of Nigeria, you ask every man and woman you see, even PDP members, who is fit today, among those in the arena, to remedy Nigeria. Each time, each place, north or south of Nigeria, the answer comes back - Buhari is the one.
So, what is the argument. If not Buhari, who is your candidate, Pastor Bakare asks; if you have 15 arguments against Buhari, I'd have 16 arguments against your candidate - he said. Now, that is a man who did his work, a man you do not take for granted.
What is more important, however, is that Pastor Bakare had not engaged in the exercise to find the best Nigerian for Nigeria for gainful purposes. He only embarked on what was a National Exercise - putting to work the saying by President John Kennedy - "Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country".
This sentiment came through listening to Pastor Bakare yesterday. He has the blessings and prayers of all Nigerians of decency and honesty.
Pastor Bakare Thought highlights:
"..power for self, not power for service" - Nigerian leaders
"..my turn to be president" - the mindset of those he interviewed, with the exception of Buhari
needed "..high level transparency...new leadership approach"
"Best of the north and best of the south to come together to salvage Nigeria"
"..rightheousness(?) is not the preserve of any religion"
"..general integration where the young learns from those with experience"
"..issue of importance to me..credibility and integrity"
"..fix the head and all will be well"...

"If truly, SNG where a non-partisan political organization seeking a coalition 'of the best minds' ( or whatever you call them candidates), that coalition must involve all major players from across the board in bringing not only the issue of corruption to the table but the imminient need to 'restructure' that 'dead corpse' called Nigeria."-Ogonna
"Tinibu is securing the west, Buhari the North, Jonathan the South-South however they deem possible and necessary, why should the Middle-belt and the South-east forced to play the 'foolish bride' to such machinations?"-Ogonna Ogonna: What you based your inferences and conclusion on is not correct. First and foremost, the endorsement of Buhari was Pastor Bakare's endorsement and not SNG. Pastor Bakare said he met with all presidential candidates spoke with them and presented what is his own personal and what he hears as the main demand of his consitutence which is SNC. Only Buhari met his personal criteria set. Pastor Bakare is a Nigerian just as Ojukwu and he has the right as a Nigerian to endorse anyone. Secondly, the main goal of SNG is to align the best of the north with the best of the south. Thirdly, what did you base the notion that Tinubu is securing the west? and even let us assume, he is doing that, what is your concern as an Igbo man. The Yoruba can not be bought, we Yoruba know our leaders and when the time comes Yorubas will gravitate towards their authentic leaders. When Ojukwu endorsed IBB and Ohaneze endorsed Jonathan, did you hear any pim from the Yoruba people about Yoruba being neglected? My brother no one is forcing the Southeast to be a "foolish bride". Present your candidate, if he/she is credible, he/she will draw the necessary support. But thinking by using waterpower to force a candidate on Nigerians because the individual is Igbo then you are joking. If there is no credible Igbo candidate with program to move Nigeria forward in 2015, Igbo will lose out again. Of all the northern wannabes, only two is getting the southwest look. The same measure we in the soutwest will use to assess any candidate brought forth in 2015. If you want an Igbo leader for Igbos, you have your governors. Nigerian presidency is not a tribal chief appointment.

Abeg , I take chineke God beg you, quit with your non-intelligent intrusions into matters that go beyond your purview of analysis. Have ever heard or seen me advocate for an Igbo Presidency under that contraption called Nigeria, it would be an oxymoron. Igbo's don't need the Presidency to achieve what Ojukwu envsioned 40 years ago. Read mine again within the context of my response to Mr. Ikunna'a to Buhari's recent statements on an Igbo Presidency cum 2015.
My point, refering to Bakare's( a man who used to be my pastor 14 yrs ago and I respect) speech last night on the 'mission of the SNG' is to warn of the imminient trap that lays ahead:
If truly, SNG where a non-partisan political organization seeking a coalition 'of the best minds' ( or whatever you call them candidates), that coalition must involve all major players from across the board in bringing not only the issue of corruption to the table but the imminient need to 'restructure' that 'dead corpse' called Nigeria.
Tinibu is securing the west, Buhari the North, Jonathan the South-South however they deem possible and necessary, why should the Middle-belt and the South-east forced to play the 'foolish bride' to such machinations?
Again I say quit fiddling and diddling all over the place, split the country now into manageable parts and let each region bear the brunt of 'securing it's own liberty' under a loosely controlled center. Those are my strong inclinations at this turning-point in our history.

An Igbo man can never be the president of Nigeria without the support of other ethnic groups. This kind of statement is very anti-Igbo. You guys should learn from Jonathan's experience, it is only the collective will of the majority of the people that can make an Igbo man the president. Pastor Bakare spoke with would be presidential candidates. When SNG was to address the media in Abuja during UMUYA saga, Ojukwu, Balarabe Musa etc., names were touted as some of the main speakers, at the last minute they balk out. My challenge to you guys, present an Igbo man that you think will command the support of majority of Nigerians today. You guys need to be realistic, we are not talking about electing the president of a social club, or a compensation position, it is the president of Nigeria at this crucial time. We all saw the performances of compensation presidents in Shagari, Obasanjo and UMUYA. They were all wasted years in annals of Nigeria. Please guys stop turning would be Igbo president project into a comedy, it is a serious issue and would be Igbo presidents should start grooming themselves for the position in 2015, or else, Igbo person would lose out again. Thanks for yours--- do you notice that current politics in Nigeria is reverting to 1960 replayed? Ndi Igbo na asi : "agadi nwoke n'ekwu okwu na-ataghari onu, aja di n'ihe o na ata".
Here we have these born to rule 'bastards' promising us 'heaven on a platter as if there was some guaranteed magical formula they hold for an Igbo Presidency. This was the same strategic mistake Zik made in 1959, instead of resolving 'the minority question' he rather went to bed dealing with what he thought were human beings, eventually ruining his political career and put Ojukwu in a precarious situation to the rescue.
I hear some bozos yap about Buhari and his magical formula to eradicate corruption in Nigeria, I take it with a pinch of salt, a dilemma unresolved. I say how under a presidential system, with a congress and senate full of rogues? By the rule of law, the same continually violated even by it's supreme dictates could such be managed at such a 'terminal stage' without a complete overhaul of it's arrangement? Isn't it obvious that the issue on the table should NOT be futile attempt at rescusitating a ' Dead Corpse', corrupt riddled Nigeria BUT the imminient need to also get rid of that corpse for a living ONE? Shouldn't the question now be the immediate dissolution of that contraption Luggards cage, Nigeria, for an amenable, 6 geo-political ECONOMIC zone formula under a federalist system where each region MUST answer to their own while contributing to that loosely held center?
I was listening to Bakare last night harp on SNG as a 'child of necessity' born out of a detrabilized objective, I chuckled. So of all the big players were to be brought to the table but Ojukwu is missing from this picture to speak on behalf of Igbo interest as Tinibu & Co. are busy orchetrasting a Yoruba rise back to power? They mean to tell us there are no incorruptible Igbo leaders ready to TRANSFORM Nigeria? Incredulous!!
These questions must be brought to the table, even more than curing the debilitating handicap of corruption, aren't we at that TURNING POINT in history where Igbos must demand and put their stake for a restructuring of that inefficient and unmanageable entity Nigeriana? I tire o!
Ogonna. Sent from my iPhone Peter and Stephen It's either you guys misunderstood Anokute's comments or rather than agree, decided to mislead us altogether! Anokute made a very important observation. I found this Bari/Banged promise insulting to Igbos . How do you guys see it ....? Have your say ! And he is very right indeed. If either of these men IBB or Buhari are really willing to hand over to an Igbo man in four years time, why wait four years, why don't they simply pick an Igbo man (not GEJ because he's an Ijaw) and support him now. If they have such clean intentions to hand over in four years to an Igbo man, what is it that they feel thay can do for Nigeria in four years that an Igbo man cannot do now? It is indeed an insult; and on that basis alone, they do not deserve the Igbo vote; but no sensible thinking Igbo man will believe them anyway! It is unfortunate that the Igbo man has put himself in a position where he can be insulted and taken for a ride in this way. Please do not mislead this forum guys. Vanguard, Thursday, November 4, 2010, Pg. 12 BUHARI PLEDGES SUPPORT FOR 2015 IGBO PRESIDENCY Enugu – Former Military leader and presidential candidate of Congress for Progressive Change, CPC, Major-General Muhammadu Buhari, (rtd.), has said that the enthronement of solid foundation for the economic restoration of the country was his cardinal objective, just as he pledged to ensure the actualization of Nigerian president of Igbo extraction by 2015. He assured that he would rule for a single term of four years that would terminate in 2015 if elected and declared his utmost desire to hand power over to a president of Igbo extraction on that date. According to the former military leader, his interest in politics is to salvage the battered economy of the country, which had been on daily decline. He added that the most unfortunate thing that had happened to the democracy of the country in the past eleven years was the ascendancy to power of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, saying Nigeria would have developed beyond its present level if it had the right person as leader. Speaking at a rally in Enugu , Buhari stated that he had come to fix Nigeria , urging the people to give him only four years to do so and return power to the South East zone in the spirit of rotation and oneness.
