- ECOWAS suspends Cote d'Ivoire membership in the regional body and recognizes Alassane Ouattara as President of Cote d'Ivoire.
- UN Security Council met today but could not agree on a common statement on the crisis. Susan Rice, US Ambassador to the UN and SC President for the month of December says they will try to meet again tomorrow in view of ECOWAS unambiguous statement of position on CI.
- President Alassane Ouatarra move to starve the Gbagbo government of financial resources by instructing BCEAO, Central Bank of Francophone West Africa not to honor his signature. All multi-lateral institutions have also received similar letters from the President-elect.
- Ivorian Ambassadors to the UN, France, Belgium, EU, USA, UK have been relieved of their functions and will be replaced by appointees of the new government that is operating from The Golf Hotel in Abidjan.
- Some key members of the previous Gbagbo cabinet and some senior army brass have been paying visit at discreet hours to pledge allegiance to the Ouattara government.
