What determines success in politics? We need to set clear targets. Beyond winning votes, what do we hope to accomplish? Even in terms of winning votes, what percentage of the votes do we hope to win? Are we only aspiring for simple majority votes?
In the context of Nigeria, most politicians aspire to win elections through rigging. To that extent therefore, campaign financing is generally directed at recruiting thugs who are mostly young people. For those of us who aspire to change politics and win the hearts of people, the approach we bringing into politics will depart from the norm of recruiting thugs and rigging votes.
