They are two different tribes. Maguzawa where the original inhabitant of Hausa land. Habe like Fulani, where imperialist and conquerors. They came and destroyed Maguzawa political power, and tookover their reigns. In kano, they destroyed the famous Maguzawa shrine, call Kakuwa, and chased away their deity called Tsumburbura. They are also responsible for the razing to the ground of the ancient capital of Kano Santolo, with assistance of Wangarawa merchants. While in Katsina, Korau, the first Habe ruler, slew Mashedi (the heir apparent) and vacated Sanau from the stool. He move the capital from Durbi ta Kusheyi, to Samri, then to Ambutai (present day Katsina) It is not clear how Habe rulers succeded in Zazzau. But the kano, frequent raid of their capital Kufena, during Kanajeji rulership, may play an important role. Muhammad Rabo, may be the first Habe ruler in Zazzau, since he was the fisrt to moved the capital to Turunku, before Konis or Nokir built a castle for his princess in present day Zaria. The Maguzawa of Sosabiki are still calling themselves original Hausa, while the Habe rulers of Daura, are thinking they are the original Hausa. I have somany references on that, but can't present them here. I think Abdullahi Paul can give u more insight. Since he is Habe. Lol!! I don't know whether he is gwandara Habe or hausa Habe! Which one are u mr Paul?!!!

I support your argument Dr Tilde. That is what arguments of Paul is faulty. Almost all his view are full bias. No one said there is no problems in the north, more especially in the area of discrimination, but the problem is not only that of Hausa-fulani Muslim, but all of us. Unless we understand that, there is no way we can prosper. Paul need to learn a lot from the life and teaching of Jesus (A S), who said the truth, no matter whose ox is goad. Next time, show me you are good follower of Jesus, not just another propagandist of middle belt politics.

Then how was it that he claimed to have been born a Catholic and still remains a Catholic? It was on a national television, Paul.
Anyway since u know him personally perhaps you are right. If I stumble upon the NTA program clip be sure I will let you have it.
Goodday to you, sir

Paul,
A point of correction.
While it was true that Adams  Oshiomole came from a region that was populated by a sizeable number of Muslims in Edo State, he had never been a muslim nor ever converted to Christianity from Islam..
The Governor clarified his religious inclination after the demise of his wife, Clara, at a Church Service during the burial ceremony.
It was broadcast by NTA and millions of Nigerians had watched the programme.

It is therefore incorrect to assert that he converted to Christianity from his former faith, Islam.

In addition to what my oga, Malam Tilde said: Was it not the Northerners who championed the agitation for Jonathan to become the president, but suddenly everything change. And the man is just eight months on the throne, but the divisions along both ethnic and religious lines have being wider and wider by the day. Only God know what will happen if he stay for four years.  Who knows maybe after he might have finished his years, the Southerners will start calling for referendum, like what is happening in Sudan.
And this April election, whether we like it or not, is a decisive factor for the survival of Nigeria as one entity.

Moreso, Mr Paul, when what we need in administration is justice not religion or region. The appeal should however be directed to both Muslims and Christians. If you hear some of the boastings from our Christian brethren, including what the pastors of Jonathan say, you will realize that your pill is needed very much in the church too, especially here in the North. Perhaps when you visit middlebelt fora like mutanenplateau you will realize the difference between our times and that of the sardauna. It is sad. Very sad. But what can we do other than write and appeal? We do not have the money to counteract the trend. The divide has given chance for corruption to pervade the nation. And it will continue to do so.

Our focus must be justice, justice and justice regarding our lives, property, and general welfare. Had goodluck shown that I believe many of us would have supported him. Though many of us supported his ascent to the throne, for a year now he has achieved much better than the depletion of our reserves, lack of performance, exacerbation of corruption, increased insecurity, and using public funds to fight his political battles. He failed to be different from our immediate past leaders. This is the problem some of us have with him, not because of religion.

That is why some of us long for people with track records of fighting corruption in this country. They may not be perfect and there is difference on who to support but it is hoped that any of them, especially Buhari and Ribadu, will lay a good foundation for sanitizing the society.

I think being rational is a more acceptable term to use.Sure Buhari is a muslim,so is Fashola,Tinibu,Mimiko etc. These are Muslims and they were voted for without a religious baise.Adams Oshimole is convert from Islam to Christianity, his predominantly Muslim Edo North rather than call for his blood voted for him. Why?Probably they believe and have a clear and correct hermanuetic of the most unparalled verse  that can be found in any scriputre- "There shall be no compulsion in religion" (2:256).Adams is first and formost  an Edo man and his people see value and consistency rather than religion in him.
Buhari is a northerner like me,i do not share in his ideals just as many Northerners dont. What makes the Youruba Christian accept a Youruba muslim to rule over him is not religion, but the value he see's in him. What makes an Edo Muslim vote for a convert to Christianity is nothing short of the value seen in him.I think we should be more broad minded and rational with our views.
I dont believe in a GEJ presidency, but when you mortgage your self to pheripherals, what would you expect?I mean,Asari Dokubo is a Muslim from Niger Delta. Why is he in total support of GEJ rather than Buhari whom is a Muslim like himself?Look these people down south have gone beyond religious sentiments in determing who leads them, and it is a plus for them so far, while we are being drawn back.
Sardauna did'nt run the North on religous lines, otherwise if he did,AVM Yisa Doko-Rtd(a Christian from Doko in Niger State)would'nt have been his personal pilot,Pte rof Ishaya Audu(a hausa Christian from Anchau in Ikara Kaduna State),would'nt have been his personal physician,Sunday Awoniyi would'nt have been the Sardauna's personal secretary, others like Micheal Audu Buba,Jolly Tanko Yousuf would'nt have worked with the Sardauna because of thier religion. Why wont we emulate the late Sardauna? These are the lagacies he left for us to follow.

Toyin and his like will never accept Buhari, because he already made his mind that, Buhari is a muslim, and their hatred against Muslim, already blinded their eyes. So no matter what nonsense Jonathan did, they prepare to have him, than to have a credible muslim on the throne. So stop wasting your time.

And again Ibrahim, Toyin himself strongly beleives GEJ is much more competent to lead the country at the moment. Perhaps this is why the debates takes the dimension he sees. What with Toyin's representation of some seemingly stale opinions about the person of Buhari, whom many in this forum see as far more credible than GEJ.

Toyin this is because Jonathan had betrayed a consensus, a one built by the Nigerian elite under the political arrangement that PDP championed in 1999. Nigeria, since independence has thrived on a consensus built on the compromises of ethnic and religious values.

So when a Jonathan breaks the rule of that consensus by shedding aside agreements as power rotation, he will question the very formula that make th formation of the Nigerian nation possible and its that ethnicity n religion that will fight against him most!

A valuable perspective Abdallah.

Its sad, though, that often   the discussion here about Jonathan  is not about how to get good leaders for Nigeria but about regional or ethnic advantange.

If I am wrong about this trend in the discussions I wish to be educated.

That's enxactly the point sir.We Northerners were caught napping.GEJ's emergence as PDP presidential flag bearer has nothing to do with his ability as a politician, but rather the North's fractured unity.I have said it and even made a post on this forum,GEJ emergence as the PDP presidential flag bearer is a good omen to the North and Northerners. It is time for us to sit down and re-examine ourselves.
Northrern political elders have succeded in creating a generational gap in the North. They see themselves as the alfa and omega in the North, while in the South West, the mantle of political leadership has been handed over to much younger geration. In the South West, the likes of Tinibu,Fashola,Abike Dabiri-Erewa,Fayemi,Falana etc are the voices we hear. The Jakandes,Adebayo's,Adeshina's,etc have taken the back seat in the Politics of the South West, and have given a younger more vibrant youthful leadership the politica mantle of the South West.
In the East and South-South,the roles the likes of Nnamani,Kalu,GEJ are playing can not be disputed.Just look at how Adams Oshimole has made the Anenih's of Edo politics totally irrelivant in Edo.Look at the age ranking of Governors from the North and compare with that of Southern Governors. The world over, the trend of things in the political terrain is changing, and we(Northerners) can not afford to afford to be left behind. The Prime Minister of the UK,is below 50,the American President is under 50,women are presidents in Brasil,Germany,Australia etc.Mu falka.Time is over for the politics of paternalism.

My own take here is that the issue is not about Northern leaders who by there actions have led the north into its predicament but about what we the bulk of those affected by this negligence of our leaders need to do to rectify the situation.

What ever is the case Jonathan will not KILL northerners simply on the basis of the southern part,East of ther Niger have access to leadership which even at the moment is yet to be conclusive ..except if Tsakuwa is saying somethin which i may require further explanations about.
My own take here is for us all to go back inwards and see how we could strengthen those neglected institutions of the north using our so called Governors(GEJ Supporters)...ALL of US and may be we will be relieved in the end and even laugh......

the lucky guy had succeeded in polirising the country along dangerous cleavage in his effort to perpetuate himself in power.

but is he to blame? i think no. Because, no where in this material world have people surrendered their god given advantage unconditionally except in nigeria-north of the niger.

we should therefore get ready for 8 years of jonathan, 8 years of another nnamdi and then may be blus or joshua.

by that time, if and only if we are alive, 32years letter, we may test it. but even this possibilty is doubtful.
