| Br. Ayittey; This is not the best way to salvage his already dented reign. When the collective forces of the people join together and say "enough is enough" he would have no choice, except vacate the office and let the people hire someone else. He is not gonna win the people's war. He has been in office too long to know what happened to his next door neighbor (Tunisia) just recently, Manila, Philippine revolution of 1980, Emperor Haile Selassie of Ethiopia, (1974), Emperor Bokasa of the Central Africa Republic (1979), and many other dictators who were dethroned by civilian or military revolutions such as "Dr. Field Marshall Idi Amin Dada of Uganda (1979). Its amazing that these days people don't have to sneak out of the country and form revolutionary forces to "liberate" their country from oppression, impunity, starvation, tribalism, nepotism, and marginalization. With the advancement of high tech info, they just twitter the message and it goes circulating like a wild wind or fire. Mubarak should stay put and know that his days are just numbered. If he doesn't heed their cries, they might hurt him the way they did his predecessor ( Pres Anwar Sadat) as he was inspecting guard of honor in broad daylight. A very clear message has been sent to him and he should know that from now on, he is walking on a very thin line. He is messing with folks who are well known in history books as the first folks to domesticate a cat, according to our popular late night talk show host, the late Isaac Ka-mwamuto of miji kenda Mombasa. And when the cat becomes furious, it will "dismantle" your eyes. TOI --- On Wed, 1/26/11, George Ayittey <ayittey@gmail.com> wrote:
