Anokute:
Those who convert from one religion to another - eg from Islam to Christianity - are usually much STRONGER Christians than those of us who were born into Christian families and just go with the "churchy" flow.
So I object to your reference to Bakare as "a closet Muslim".
Secondly, his mother ABIGAIL (who is now 100 years old; God has blessed her richly with long life and a good and caring son) is a Christian - that is a big difference - and his Muslim father had died at age 2. So what are we talking about?
Thirdly, see all the drama that attended his conversion into Christianity:

Born on 11 November 1954 to a polygamous Muslim family at Iporo Sodeke in Abeokuta, Bakare did not know his father – he died when he was two – but was brought up by his mother, Abigail Ebudola Bakare. He attended Lisabi Grammar School Abeokuta, Ogun State, after which he studied Law at the University of Lagos. According to the online network, "it was [on the] night of his circumcision as a little boy that God showed him a glimpse of his future, which manifested in a dream from which he woke up in a pool of his own blood."
Ten years later, in September 1974, he, as the publication put it, had gone to a Baptist Church to take photograph of a friend being baptised and the "pillar of light" he had seen in his vision 10 years earlier was replayed inside this church. It was so dramatic he could not hold back. He recognised it as a vision from God and as a call to service. Thereafter he was converted to Christianity."

Where is your own story, out-of-closet Christian Anokute?
QUOTE
The first house I ever built in my life is at the Redemption Camp. I built it in 1986-87. I built it to just live there and serve God. I didn't want to be a pastor. I'm a trained lawyer. I trained under Gani and trained under Rotimi Williams. I wanted to practise my profession. I had three things at the back of my mind in my life: to be a successful legal practitioner, to get to the peak of my career and to be a successful millionaire. And by 1986/87, I already had seven lawyers in my chambers, working full-time. I won my first Appeal Court case on my 21st day at the bar. I learnt under the masters. That's why Gani's death shook me. If you see some of the books Gani wrote, you will see my name in them. He dedicated some of them to me, to our industry while we were with him, before I crossed to Chief Rotimi Williams' chambers and later to start my own practice. I was doing business. I brought Skoda into Nigeria. I had factories in Nigeria and I was doing well in international trade. I wanted to use both law and business to go into politics.

I think that we should all respect that honesty.
So, abegi....let us evaluate the dramatic Buhari/Bakare ticket on the issues, and compare and contrast it with other tickets. All this Muslim/Christian palava is over-flogged.
And there you have it.

Zubbie ,Anybody , but Buhari/Bakare's joint Muslim/Muslim ticket . I am not Islamophobic , but these two clowns are frightening to our Democracy . If you want to see Nigeria progress, don't let a former despot come back . That's what I am for . Now , you see , No one will win this election on the first ballot . That's for sure . But the second round will eliminate Buhari and pit Jonathan and Ribadu . So on this equation , may the best man win . Both , in my view , represent a generational shift....Which is fine with me ....Have your say .Anokute ,

Besides , there must be a generational change . Its time for that baton to be passed to the next generation of Nigerians , who have grown up disillusioned from their poverty-driven lives , in the midst of plenty .This generation , with college degrees and unemployment hovering around 70% , inspired Nuhu Ribadu to run for President . I know that . He told me so , at a luncheon in his honor in New York City , April 2010 . After his long speech , there was a thunderous ovation that was deafening . The packed room remained tense for a few moment only to be disrupted by sounds of clingling champaign glasses.....Ribadu 4 President .Anokute ,New York , New York .

Nigerians need a leader that understands the yearnings of the masses, because he has been there too. We need something with a heart to serve the people; someone who is educated, firm and with a vision to lead Nigerians.
We need someone with an humble spirit.....
I do not know if someone that has enjoyed affluence all his life understands the poor.

This Ribadu is also an enthnic jingoist. What does he mean by zoning. All the years that his zone had held power what did they do for even their people. Ribadu is elitist. He neversuffered in his life before. We Nigerians have trust in Jonathan more than in Ribadu. GEJ is one of us. It is only God that enthroned him,for were it to be man, Jonathan would not have smelt Aso Rock. He is from a poor background so he knows what the ordinary Nigerian needs.Ribadu is not talking seriously. A serious person will not be talking about one term for his president whereas the constitution is clear on this issue. Jonathan is permitted by the constitution to go for two terms like any other president before him but on his own he has chosen to run for only one term in order to appease people like Ribadu. I as a person would have loved GEJ to run for a second term after 2015. When that time comes I shall urge him to do so since he will not be violating any law of the land.Alor

Single term: Jonathan can't be trusted, says Ribadu

Presidential candidate of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) Malam Nuhu Ribadu yesterday urged Nigerians to disregard President Goodluck Jonathan's promise that he would not seek re-election in 2015 if he wins this year's polls. Speaking through the spokesman of his campaign team, Ibrahim Modibbo, the former anti-graft czar said Jonathan's antecedents demonstrate that he cannot be trusted since he had reneged on several promises he made earlier.
While reminding Nigerians that Jonathan was a signatory to the Peoples Democratic Party's (PDP) agreement on zoning but later denied knowledge of such an agreement, Ribadu said Jonathan was a signatory number 314 or 315 on the list of attendance at that historic meeting, only to turn round and flatly deny any such agreement.
"If the President could deny an important document of that magnitude, how can we trust him on this verbal political statement?" Ribadu said.
On the security situation in the country, he said that Jonathan had only been making more statements without any corresponding action on how the problems could be tackled, adding that this has gone a long way to show that the government is at crossroads on how to move the country forward.
