By involving himself in partisan politics, a religious leader that claims to be Christian exposes himself to unwholesome and Satanic Influences.
WHAT THE BIBLE TEACHES: After witnessing Jesus' ability to perform miracles, some wanted him to become involved in local politics but our Lord excused himself. His response? "Jesus, knowing that they intended to come and make him king by force, withdrew again to a mountain by himself."—John 6:15, NIV.
When Jesus was arrested and falsely accused of being a political agitator, he replied: "My kingdom is not of this world. If my kingdom were of this world, my servants would have been fighting, that I might not be delivered over to the Jews. But my kingdom is not from the world."—John 18:36,English Standard Version.
When praying to God about the disciples, Jesus said: "I have given them your word, and the world has hated them because they do not belong to the world, just as I do not belong to the world."—John 17:14, New Revised Standard Version.
A Christian leader thus follow Jesus' example and avoid becoming involved in partisan politics, even if that means that its members will be hated by some politicians?
Christian leaders go against their brief when they start contesting for political positions:
The should not meddle in partisan Politics: "Across Asia and beyond," says the journal Asiaweek, "power-hungry leaders are cynically manipulating people's religious sentiments for their own needs." As a result, the journal warns; "The world threatens to sink into madness".
If a TRUE man of God want to follow strictly what the Bible says about worldly politics here it is:
When Christians get politically partisan, they betray their strong moral voice. They put themselves forward as the solution whereas Jesus' true followers preach that God's Kingdom is mankind's only hope. Jesus foretold: "This good news of the kingdom will be preached in all the inhabited earth for a witness to all the nations; and then the end will come." (Matthew 24:14) Instead of encouraging people to look to human rulers to solve their problems, true followers of Jesus Christ proclaim God's heavenly Kingdom as the only hope for mankind. (Psalm 146:3) Jesus taught us to pray for that perfect government when he said: "Let your kingdom come. Let your will take place, as in heaven, also upon earth." (Matthew 6:10) God's Word foretold that this heavenly Kingdom "will crush and put an end to all these kingdoms [now existing], and it itself will stand to times indefinite."—Daniel 2:44.
Like I pointed out above; After witnessing Jesus' ability to perform miracles, some wanted him to become involved in local politics but our Lord excused himself and the Bible said; "Jesus, knowing that they intended to come and make him king by force, withdrew again to a mountain by himself."—John 6:15, NIV.
God's Kingdom will neither cooperate with nor work through human political leaders. Rather, it will eliminate every vestige of human self-rule, as indicated in the following prophecy of Daniel about "the last days," the time in which we live. (2 Timothy 3:1) "In the days of those kings the God of heaven will set up a kingdom that will never be brought to ruin. . . . It will crush and put an end to all these [man-made] kingdoms, and it itself will stand to times indefinite." (Daniel 2:44) Those words offer no comfort or hope to people who prefer rulership by man, but to all who desire God's sovereignty as expressed through his Kingdom under Christ Jesus, they glow with promise.
Nigerians have had "men of God" that went into politics and how they performed: Joly Nyame, Moses Adasu, etc
Abeg iii iii!!!

By DURO ADESEKO
He is the only head of state without a petrol station. He has only two houses, one in Daura and they are just basic houses. He has no oil rig or oil well. He has no foreign account. He has no house abroad. He has lived even within his pension up to this time. He was petroleum minister and has no cent or one dollar per barrel sticking to his fingers. He has been governor in this country. He was Petroleum Trust Fund executive chairman and not a dime was traceable to him as being fraudulent. I think what Nigerians are face to face with is one vote for two honest men.
The Christian word Messiah is saviour of souls and of the world and I don't like such words being used for mere men. The best of men are still men at the very best. I won't call any man messiah. Everyman will contribute his quota to the development of the nation. I know men who are rising, who are going to do their best. Using the word Messiah is making man God. That is what I want to communicate. But besides that, you did not quote me accurately. What you are saying was in 2006 October. I said some of these old men should allow young men to operate, to come into power.

Federal Edosomwan:For the sake of the nation, and not for your sake because your support is irredeemable - it is like casting pearls wrongly if only directed at yourself - I shall respond.*In 2007, Buhari was 64 years old; now he is 68. He is four years wiser. [By the way, Bakare is also 4 years older and wiser. That also matters.]*In 2007, he was in ANPP; now he is in CPC.*In 2007, he considered and chose Ume-Ezeoke, now he considered and chose BakareI could go on and on, but I would stop there. If you have never changed your mind, then you are dumb. Finally, we have a way of spending time on irrelevancies. The candidates are making their choices of running mates; let us concentrate on getting their agendas for the nation, and making our votes count. There you have it.Bolaji Aluko

Dear Pius and All:
Bakare's prophecy was about 2007 elections....Buhari has since been
"renewed", I guess, but not the "Short Ones".
God moves in mysterious ways, His wonders to perform....
And there you have it.
