All this suspicion and mistrust even when Mr.Gaddafi had long ago
trumpeted his intentions – well before the beginning of the Arab
Spring or any hostilities against him. Mr. Gaddafi is no saint, having
called his own people "rats" who should be exterminated - simply
because their sole demand was for positive change. So why is this news
so difficult to believe or take at it's face value? Surely, Mr.
Gaddafi was only being true to colour and in the circumstances making
good on his threat:
