too.
It's about time to wake up and smell the coffee.
There are the same type of people in other religions and in other
locations including locations in New York. They don't want to truck
with, worldly ( dunya ) secular education.
Why it should be such a big deal that for religious reasons a small
segment of Nigeria, does not want to submit to Western or to any
other kind of education, Eastern , Southern, even from outer space or
heaven for that matter, is beyond my understanding. Somebody please
educate me about this. So a man prefers Islamic humanities to all
else. Prefers Arabic poetry to that composed in Chinese or to what's
still considered an oppressive colonial mother-tongue. What's wrong
with that? The arguments for individual freedom of choice could be
considerably expanded.
So far , Boko Haram is operating in the North and not in the South.
Of course, sympathy is not with those who commit terrorist acts, and
should the security forces also act like terrorists by targeting
innocent women and children in Boko Haram domains then sympathy will
and should swing to the Boko Haramies and Boko Haram Martyrs, all
those those unlawfully targeted and killed. And those Boko Haram
members who have been prisoned for petty offences....just because they
are Boko Haram members. Like the Holocaust, Jews killed for being
Jews.
N.B: Israel has not arrested or sentenced the leaders of Fatah or
Hamas to death because of Hamas or Fatah terrorism.
Then Arafat the godfather of terrorism would have gone to paradise and
the 72virgins or to the other place, a long time ago....much earlier
than he actually did.
In the absence of precise information there's always much room for
speculation, often nervous, paranoid, unhealthy speculation. For
instance the Breaking News about the Oslo massacres ( in Norway)
pointed a speculative finger at possible/ likely Muslim terrorists.
What we all want/ need is definitive information as to who the Boko
Haram are and who/what they are not. There's no point in blaming every
act of sabotage and wanton terrorism on the bogeyman , Boko Haram when
in fact it's possible that it's not them, even if they would like to
claim responsibility for anything big, to make themselves look
bigger. After reading this item in THE WILL ( "Man With al Qaeda
Links Planned UN House Bombing, Says DSS" one cannot help but ask : Is
Boko Haram a member of a bigger, umbrella organisation, such as al-
Qaeda, since after the UN bombing it seems that they have some goals
in common, although, so far, the word "Jihad" seems to be
conspicuously absent from the Boko Haram's Arabic vocabulary.
According to THE WILL (see "UN Building Bomb Attack: How Security
Agencies Failed A Nation" there was reliable information to work on,
but Security was caught napping:
Again, according to "THE WILL" ("Boko Haram Is A Tool To Destabilize
Jonathan's Government – SSPA") the Boko Haram is "a political tool in
the hands of disgruntled powerful northern interests who are poised to
destabilize the government of President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan. " No
sympathy for that.
The Will goes on, " the name has become a metaphor for a more
sophisticated struggle for political power. We dare say that it is a
tool in the hands of those who threatened to make this country
ungovernable and those who lectured us on the inevitability of violent
change in the heat of the struggle for the Jonathan presidency...we
are convinced that the group's agenda, which clearly is that of its
urbane sponsors, is to make the presidency of Goodluck Jonathan
unworkable," the SSPA added.
Since they (Boko Haram) don't go around in uniform, what we do not
want to see (making things so much more difficult for their
containment or apprehension) is the Boko Haram becoming an
agglomeration/ network of disaffected radical and not so radical
Muslims and their sympathisers, throughout the Federation of Nigeria,
a loose confederation of interests being labelled " Boko Haram".
That would instantaneously transform a local uprising to a nationwide
organisation, still nebulous but linked by popular and widespread
disaffection and therefore even more dangerous should they choose
violence, terrorism and sabotage as their method to have their
grievances heard and satisfactorily addressed.
Here are some vicious reports about Boko Haram being up to no good:
