The quote above confirms that Buchanan and others like him on the America right, unlike President Johnson, are patently unable to understand that the promise of democracy is not "equality" but the "equality of opportunity". This is why discrimination on the basis of race and religion among others is inconsistent with the true practice of democracy. Racial and other discrimination creates opportunity for some and denies it to others.
When Buchanan says that no two children, even identical twins are created equal, what point is he making? How does he know that for a fact? That he believes what he thinks is meaningless. He cannot determine that two children are not equal in an absolute or objective sense. He can however in a subjective and relative sense if for example; he believes that the taller child has an absolute overall advantage over the less tall one.
Buchanan must be commended for his "honesty". He is not concerned about making the world a better place for all who live in it. He is only concerned about people of European descent who for him are the "chosen people". It is thinking like his that leads one person to want to dominate another, one people to want to dominate another, one country to want to dominate another/others, and one religion to want to dominate another/others. It is thinking like his that causes discrimination, injustice, and sometimes avoidable and mindless war.
If Buchanan remembers the history that he pretends to know, he would not be as worried as he seems to be. He must know that Europe was not the cradle of civilization. He must also know that the present European civilization is actually the youngest of the world's civilization. He must also know that it is most unlikely to be the last.
The earth on which we all live is a planet that is in perpetual motion. It should not be too surprising therefore that everything on earth is naturally and consequently on the move. Movement means change. Why should this not be the case with history? Why does Buchanan believe that his call on people of European descent to arms will stop change?
It is evident that Buchanan's understanding of freedom is not inclusive. His is not freedom for all. It is freedom for a few. The history of the human race is loudly and frequently punctuated with the migration of people. If it is alright for one people to leave their homeland and take over other people's homelands, what is wrong with another people doing the same? Is it not said in the English language that what is good for the goose is good for the gander?
While Buchanan is interesting to read, it is still scary to know that there are people who do not accept that empires rise and fall and that there are no exceptions to this rule. They call themselves conservatives when what the world needs are people who believe in a common and shared humanity, accept the evidence of history, and positively appreciate the knowledge that science avails to us. Sadly, it is increasingly such people that dominate thought in right-wing political parties and in some cases public affairs and policy. By their thoughts and actions, prejudice and intolerance of non-Europeans everywhere, they help to speed up the decline of European civilization by creating enemies of non-European people who commit themselves to ending it.

We may deny the existence of ethnonationalism, detest it, condemn it. But this creator and destroyer of empires and nations is a force infinitely more powerful than globalism, for it engages the heart. Men will die for it. Religion, race, culture and tribe are the four horsemen of the coming apocalypse.
Chapter 9. 'The White Party'
