A PARADE OF GOOD NEWS OUT OF ZIMBABWE
There seems to be a parade of good news coming out of Zimbabwe. It would appear that it was like just yesterday that the country was on the cusp of boiling over with political violence orchestrated by ZANU-PF supporters against now Prime Minister and opposition leader Morgan Tsvangirai personally and his MDC (Movement for Democratic Change). What crystalized in 2008 and brought about the violence was the apparent support that the opposition had garnered among Zimbabweans, and translated into the 2008 elections. The 2008 elections were considered one of the fairest elections in Africa whereby Tsvangirai defeated Robert Mugabe in the presidential election. Zimbabweans had defied warnings by security forces during the campaign that they would never accept Tsvangirai as Commander-in-Chief if he won the election, to vote for him.
