Sirte, Libya: Rebels are shooting at the Main Coastal Highway near the local power station on Ocober 1, 2011. A U.S. mercenary in the guise of a journalist joins the NATO-rebels in shelling a civilian house. Note: the mercenary has since been identified as Kevin Dawes. He was also reported on NPR as from San Diego, California, saying he first went to Libya to serve as a medical aid worker in June, but eventually decided to take up arms after "pro-Gadhafi forces started targeting medical staff." The "journalist" can be seen in position with a rebel sniper at 1:30 and 3:07 in the video and starts shooting at 3:24. On October 31, Canadian NATO Lieutenant-General Charles Bouchard admitted journalists in Libya were NATO informants, saying: "The intelligence came from many sources, including the media who were on the ground and provided us with a lot of information regarding the intentions and the location of the ground forces."
