I will sing of hard toiling Of languages that clear out forest Of juju chants burning bushes And Olokun tilling the land

I will sing of planting articles Weeding words to edit my poems Nurturing the manuscript in each plot Threshing and harvesting my songs

Till farming activities began to take their toll Causing droughts and unpredictable seasons Yielding less and less manuscript As I grew slowly with age
