The NLC accused the Federal Government of throwing money at the problem of insecurity rather than making the practical moves to solve the critical problem.
The NLC in statement by its Acting General Secretary, Mr. Owei Lakemfa, on Monday, stated that the Federal Government had a responsibility to unite Nigerians to ensure a successful campaign against the emergent security threats.
"The bombings are a manifestation of the failure of the political leadership that throws money at problems like security, rather than solve them."
The NLC enjoined the Federal Government to focus its attention on the fight against crime and terrorism in the country.
Lakemfa called on the Federal Government and the state governments to stop the ongoing debate on the planned removal of the fuel subsidy, describing it as diversionary to the campaign against crime and terrorism.
He also urged the government to provide gainful employment, education and mass enlightenment for the citizenry which he described as the root causes of the insecurity threatening the unity of the country.
He urged Nigerians to be resolute in the quest to build a strong united and peaceful country that would be of pride to the citizenry.
He condemned the masterminds of the nefarious attacks on the St. Theresa's Catholic Church and commiserated with the families that lost their loved ones to the dastardly attack.
The NLC's statement read, "The Nigeria Labour Congress in strong terms condemns these vicious acts and commiserates with the victims' families. We also wish those injured speedy recovery."
