It is a borrowed optimism for Nigerians to believe Okonjo Iweala will pick the position of World Bank President. I am not doubting her competence but there is an unwritten convention about who controls the Brenton Woods institutions; the post of World bank President belongs to the US while IMF President is zoned to the European Union. You can go back to history and check. But just as Nkoli Obianyo noted it is an honour for Okonjo-Iweala to be mentioned.

Not possible to win but no harm in trying.Even being nominated is a plus for her.

Certainly not the posit of the President of the World Bank. Let us be realistic in our judgment of fact. It is not humanly possible for the candidate of Nigeria to win the race.
Dr. Okonjo-Iweala should have known better in this matter. She should have not contested in the first place knowing fully well how the ball for the appointment is played.

There are of course other considerations including the national interests of those who will vote.. The USA candidates have lost elections to international posts before, so please let's stop this nonsense that because president Obama nominated a candidate the game is over for our own lady. The best we can do is wish her the best.
