By Chidi Anthony Opara
I am not the snob
Saturated with praise songs
Of hired praise singers,
I am the bard
Who heals broken hearts
With the balm of ballads.
I am not the showman
Who wears sophistry,
I am the mouthpiece of Chukwu
Who wears truth.
I am not the scribe
Who scribbles sacrilege
On the shrine walls,
I am the curator
Of the sacred sculptures.
My ballads
Are not bound
By the bounds of borders.
