RE: USA Africa Dialogue Series - The Irreversible of Mr President's statement

FROM OLADIMEJI ABORISADE:   Please, I have a few comments.   It is a fact that Leaders in Nigeria do not reverse their statements especially when the statements are controversal.  It is equally true that MKO ABIOLA desrve honor/respect. Perhaps older institution like the University of Lagos  could have been left alone and consider for this purpose the "Federal University " located at ABEOKUTA. University of Lagos is historical. The first University to be established in Lagos.  Lagos, the first Federal Capital and the seat of Colonials through the Independence. Lagos is still the Economic Center of Nigeria. I think the President could have borrowed a leaf from the OAU, Ile Ife.
Thank you,
oladimeji aborisade.

> The president of Nigeria on the 29th of May 2012 named University of Lagos after Moshood Kasimawo Abiola. Ever since then till now, there had been controversies about the change of name. If he consulted the stakeholders or not, i want everyone to get this right now that he(Mr President) won't go back. I.e to reverse his statement. This is because if he does, Mr President would be called a coward or a weak President. On this note, he won't be able to go back. If it were to be on rumour level, he could have concealed his mind on doing that, but as it is now. We should all go back to the period of oil subsidy. Don't forget he never went back to #65/litre. Whereas, it was on the majority then, not to talk of the UNILAG issue that is based on the minority. At the moment the school has been shutdown and God know what is being deliberated up there in Abuja. We shouldn't stop or start praying for Nigeria both within and outside the country. God bless.
