The Film
Our groundbreaking film, directed by Academy Award nominee Richard Robbins, tells the stories of 10 extraordinary girls in 10 developing countries, written by 10 acclaimed writers and narrated by 10 world-class actresses. Woven together, the 10 stories give voice to the daunting challenges faced by girls navigating adolescence in much of the developing world.

10x10 is a groundbreaking film, a global social action campaign and an extraordinary opportunity: Investing today in adolescent girls living in the developing world creates a ripple effect that transforms families, communities and entire countries for generations.
By harnessing the power of media and bringing together forward-thinking, action-oriented corporate and non-profit partners, global leaders and philanthropists, 10x10 brings together a global community to take action to improve the lives of adolescent girls around the world.
10x10 affects change three ways: (1) by driving resources to girl-focused programs that are proven models for change (2) by raising global awareness about the importance of education and skills-training for adolescent girls and (3) by using a groundswell of support to provoke governmental, institutional and policy changes that empower adolescent girls, the world's single most powerful untapped resource.

The girls chosen to appear in the film are selected in consultation with 10 acclaimed women writers. These writers are not only our collaborators, but a bridge deep into the lives of the girls themselves—our chance to tell a story that might not be captured in a traditional documentary. A voice for girls who might otherwise never be heard.

The writer spends significant time in the field with the girl she has chosen. We are trying to tell stories that go beyond what can be seen on the surface, so this immersion is essential. The writer then returns home to write. The writings that are created about our 10 girls form the foundation for the film's 10 segments.
Together, these 10×10 stories broadly illuminate the single, unifying story of girls struggling to get an education in the face of seemingly insurmountable obstacles. These girls present an incredible array of voices, each striving to make a better life for herself, her family, and her country.
