Dear All,
How are you today? I'm an academic and I also do freelance journalism work for the academic careers website Jobs.ac.uk - http://www.Jobs.ac.uk/. I'm working on a piece looking at 'working in East Africa' . The article is looking to give advice to academics looking to work in universities across the region.
I wonder if I can interview academics from East Africa or folks who have worked as academics in the region.
Here is an example of my work - http://www.jobs.ac.uk/careers-advice/working-in-higher-education/1384/rethinking-political-science/
Please note that my deadline is this Friday.
These are the questions I like to ask!
1. What is the job market like in the East African region, especially for foreign academics?
2. What is remarkable about working as an academic in the region?
3. What cultural differences should academics coming from overseas prepare for?
4. What do universities normally expect from academics?
5. What career prospects lie ahead for academics working in East Africa?
6. What is the typical salary structure in countries across the region?
I hope to read from you soon.
Regards,
Shola
