There is another community called the Meru of Kenya- there is also Meru of Tanzania- who used water boiled in some plants called kiatha and Kioru to bath children or even adult to prevent bad omen that bring fever. They also make the culprit to inhale the steam of the concoction by covering them with a blanket as they bend over the steaming pot.
This might not be the case with the Meru of Tanzania. You know Mt.Meru.
I happen to be a Meru of Kenya.
I can find more details for you.

--Hello all,
Please does anyone know about funeral rites in Malawi? I was informed that when a family member passes on, to prevent children from having nightmares, they are bathed with water boiled in a certain plant. What plant can this be?
Please how can I find out more about this practice? Is there any other culture that engages in this kind of rite/ritual?
Thank you
Kole
