Conference Theme: RE- INVENTING LOCAL INTELLIGENCE FOR SUSTAINABLE AFRICAN GLOBAL IMPACTS
Introduction:
The fact that civilisation started from Africa has been downplayed by the atmosphere of seeming hopelessness and under development situations in Africa today. In spite of historical feats of African impacts in biotechnology and biodiversity development, reverse is the case today as Africa has become a consuming nation rather than producers of technology. This circumstance is also aggravated by the political atmosphere in parts of Africa which has made the continent a crying baby of the globe.
This conference is therefore organised to survey the attractions in ancient Africa before that exploration and sudden discoveries by external powers, and which has truncated the traditional African development today. While some continents have tenaciously held on to their language, culture and intellectual properties and these have crafted a place for them in the race of global development, this conference is meant to study and review the African past, her indigenous knowledge, power, technology, creativity, innovations, cultural practices and myths, historical and deified personalities e.t.c. It will explore the situation in this dispensation and take deep focus on Africa and how these can be recycled to re-invent and revalidate her position in the anal of global development and pursuit of advancement. In essence, the conference is meant to be an avenue to explore research findings on sustainable development in Africa and how these can be taken off the shelve and appropriated for African development.
Papers to be presented will therefore investigate the Environmental, Economic and Social factors in sustainable development and how these can be infused into the three levels of technology, that is, the Basic, Advanced and State of the Art; to set standards for what can be adduced as sustainable development using the lenses of social and technological development where the grassroots would not be exempted.
In view of this, abstracts of not more than 250 words are invited from scholars, researchers, scientists, and development and policy makers on any of the sub-themes below.
