The mother of all battles billed for November has not been fought and so I
hesitate to call for the popping of champagnes. I believe, as many do, that it's
going to be a close election. As an admirer of Presidents Reagan for his
oratory, Clinton for his steadiness in the face of difficulties and Obama for
his temperament, I find very little, politically, about Brother Romney to boost
my excitement and confidence. His impromptu statement following the carnage in
Libya and elsewhere denouncing this administration's stance on the issue
troubled me very much. It was not what he said that bordered me; it was his
demeanor or delivery. He was tongue-tied, wobbly, and inarticulate before the
world in expressing his view on a matter that he and his handlers probably
thought was going to be a deadly blow on this administration's foreign policy. I
urge you to take another look at his performance. I believe that this smart man
was goaded against his will or better judgment to comment on this matter—and he
blew it in my opinion. I am convinced more now than ever before that
independents—who are generally members of the informed public—are wondering if
this very successful mogul is politically fit to be president of this great
country!
