| Dear Prof., I beg to differ. None of those things are lifeless. These are extensions of other people's minds. Is the word WOMAN just in reference to the flesh and blood woman we see around. In the Yoruba culture, at least, the bit I know, makes allusion to rivers as either male or female. You can talk about the sex of a river. You can talk about the sex of a year. To those in search of a partner, I tell you the screen plays that role without pain or rejection.
