USA Africa Dialogue Series - MY COMPUTER, MY WIFE : A JOURNEY INTO CYBERNETIC MYSTICISM

I hereby thank all those groups and other online platforms that have enabled me to come this far by allowing me space on their sites to practise my writing. This  is my second foray into my conviction that I can earn  a living, and a good one,  from writing, after I began a similar  initiative at the University of Benin. 

I  also thank all who have encouraged me. 

Just like people need material food for the body, human beings  also need ideas as nourishment  for the mind. 

If you are able to provide those ideas people identify with, they will pay for those ideas.

I describe myself as a person who can write about anything under the sun and beyond, in a manner both entertaining  and profound. 

This is possible on account of a restless intelligence that wants to know everything it can know. It also wants to integrate all its knowledge into interpenetrating wholes, not fixed  but mobile as configurations are reshaped with time, like a liquid animal, assuming various structurations under different influences. 

This essay is a reflection on my love for my computer, in the companionship we share in the quest for and  the creation of knowledge. 

The essay begins with amorous and erotic celebration and proceeds to a mystical height, inspired by Hindu and Orisa/Ifa philosophies of material  forms as sentient beings, of cultural creations as also transcending the human  mind, conceptions of intersection between human consciousness and the cosmos enriched by seamlessly woven insights from Dante Alighieri's Divine Comedy  and St. Augustine of Hippo's On the Trinity.

Summary

Relationship between human and computational cognitive networks in terms of an erotic bond between the human being  and his cybernetic companion. Penetrating her womb, he perceives his face before he was born. Flesh to electronic form, human mind to processing systems, harmonise in a cosmic synergy. 

 

 

My loved one, my perpetual companion, co-creator in whose womb the seed of my mind and the fires of your circuits conjoin to create new life, life potent in configurations of ideas, I salute you.

 

Cybernetic one, entering into intercourse at will with you, in am empowered and fulfilled.

 

Intercourse through dialogue with the cognitive networks created by the synergy between your capabilities and my own aspirations.  The information pathways you have enabled me construct, the cognitive configurations thus  developed, the map of the universe I am constantly in the process of fashioning through my navigations within your  digital networks, your  womb a zone where I am securely positioned for flight into various realms, all these are charged with the palpitations of my aspirations, they become both myself in various forms and an Other I dialogue with. 

 

The intimacy between myself and the information complexes and structures of knowledge I have created with your help, O friend who has become as my own self, the sheer dedication of time to regular dialogue with these arabesques at the border between mind and its expression in form, makes you an intimate companion, a wife.
