The next gubernatorial election - leading to the re-election of Kayode Fayemi - will be sometime in JulyAugust /September 2014. (He just celebrated his second year in office this past fortnight).
So if you wait tlll 2015 as you wrote below, it will be too late.
I thought I should be a good sport, being what we are to each other.
After all, politics is not a blood sport, as some of you seem intent to play it, gloating and gloating over the deserved Ondo victory to annoy the loser into violence or what? You do not even seem completely happy yet with your victory? Tani o mba yinmin-yinmin du?
And there you have it.

Joe,I wonder o.May be that will change the reality of Mimiko's victory. You see,the beauty is not in the tyranny of figures,as represented in the statistics. The joy is that a boastful arrogant gang was beaten.Even if it was by one vote it makes all of the difference. At least Tinubu and his storm troopers will have to wait for another four years to have a shot, except that ACN would have become so discredited that it would be struggling to remain relevant in the South West. For stater we shall meet in Ekiti in 2015Akinyemi Onigbinde

Yinka Odumakin:Highest turnout in Ondo State election?Whether in ABSOLUTE numbers or in % TURNOUT, Ondo did not record the highest turnout in any recent elections.....abi what does "recent" mean again in Nigeria ?Otherwise, just ask Prof. Olurode then to modify the INEC website information:which shows the following:Kogi State (2011) Votes Cast - 518,949 Reg. Voters - 1,325,272 % Turnout - 39.16%Adamawa State (2012) Votes Cast - 685,103 Reg Voters - 1,843,619 % Turnout - 37.16%Edo State (2012): Votes Cast - 647,698 Reg. Voters - 1,651,099 % Turnout - 39.23%
Ondo State (2012): Votes Cast - 624,659 Reg Voters - 1,638,950, % Turnout - 38.11%
Haba! What did we all go to school for?I am not saying that Iroko did not win, but in your enthusiasm, you should not embezzle statistics. So let me repetez moi again s'il vous plait:
QUOTEIt is fair to compare different gubernatorial re-election results, independent of the turn-out of voters.Lagos State:In 2007: Fashola (ACN) - 828,484 Obanikoro (PDP) - 389,088; Agbaje (DPA) - 114,557 Pedro (LP) - 29,826In 2011: Fashola (ACN) - 1,509,113, Dosunmu (PDP) - 345,000 (or is it 300,450 sef?)
Edo State:In 2007/2008 Tribunal: Oshiomhole: 166,577 Osunbor - 129,117In 2012: Oshiomhole - 477,478 Airhievabre - 144,235Votes Cast - 647,698 Reg. Voters - 1,651,099 % Turnout - 39.23%Ondo State:In 2007/2008 Tribunal: Mimiko - 195,030 Agagu (PDP) - 131,565In 2012: Mimiko - 260,199 Oke (PDP) - 155,961, Akeredolu (ACN) - 143,512Votes Cast - 624,659 % Turnout - 38.11%Now, you do the comparison (where you can) in terms of:- voter turnout in each election- voter turnout INCREASE from election to re-election- vote percentage won by winner relative to runner-up- vote percentage won by winner relative to ALL the other candidates- vote percentage INCREASE won by winner from election to re-election, etc.The point is that the/your/my winner still won, but the victory dance must always be tempered/sobered with these numbers on the ground. After all, why did we go to school, if not to be a little more analytical than the motor-park urchin? [Yinka, you yourself have done some "useless data" analysis before, although you did misplace a few zeros! :-)]And why are breaking victory dances more than the victor anyway? Iroko is settling down to new governance, isn't he?UNQUOTEAnd there you have it.Bolaji AlukoStill shaking his headDeclaring statistics victory and letting sleeping dogs lie
