I think that we had better adhere to the advice given by Professor
John Mbaku, among other things to stay focused on ways and means by
which our discussions and extensions of these discussions could
succeed in harnessing some of that awe-full US material, manpower and
know-how for Africa - first and foremost by such discussions impinging
on US policy considerations and on African states individually and as
a continent to some extent represented by the collective of states
known as the African Union.
The United States Foreign Office is manned by very competent staff and
connected with some think tanks manned by people with brains, so it's
seldom a matter of some effete academic, thinking that he is better
informed, he knows best what is best for US interests - or at least
knows better than everybody and is therefore frustrated that he can't
dictate to the US. Or that the US doesn't listen to their advice,
because the US or somebody in the US is stoopid.
In my humble opinion, it is not enough to merely have academic or even
profound and learned discussions. Such discussions and the occasional
massaging of egos remains just a lot of cyber air, sometimes only hot
air, hot theoretical or ideological air trying to counteract other
forms of perishable extremism that ends in the grave and later (as
some faithfully believe) for some who deserver no better, straight to
the everlasting bonfire
This is not beyond the scope of the series : If the participants are
not more actively connected to some organisation or organisations
linking the US with Africa - and actually getting some work done in
the US and on African soil, then like "world-wide TV " the purpose of
the series is fulfilled since USA-Africa dialogue series "reaches the
entire world, and presents significant debates, data, news, and
information about Africa, the African Diaspora, and global events as
they relate to Africa."
From my theological point of view, should everything be fine in
Israel, the world would be a finer place. Quae cum ita sint, helpful
discussions about Israel's situation could contribute to better
fulfilling the role of mankind in God's world.
With regard to US-Israel, there are many such organisations :
